i hava a question. they say 1st year usually get a default C. may i check if the 1st year refers to first yr of service (i.e. the first pro rated pb) or the first yr u are ranked (i.e. first appraisal grade)

I would say it is the 1st year of service. Doesn't really matter when you joined. If you joined in Jan/Feb, then of course you get a default C in Apr. If you joined in Jun/Jul, the appraisal and ranking period is usually around Sep/Oct, with your bosses fighting for your following year's PB grade in Nov. So the period of assessment is still fewer than 6 months and again it is a default C. Dec is usually a lull period so by around Jan / Feb is when the PB grading and promotion approval processes takes place. Then come Mar you will be informed of your PB grade and promotion if any and the whole cycle starts again.

Those in the higher rung of C get 1.75, lower rung get 1.6, lowest rung of C get 2.5

It depends on your rank as well. I am an ASP. If you are INSP maybe your bonus will be lower?

Anyway, the PB quantum for ASP and INSP is same! B grade is definitely less than 3.45 months! Don't come and spread false info!

im dip holder in CS and for B grade, PB is alr 2 months. if u degree holder and SO / senior position, 3.45 months for B is quite possible...

any1 knows if PB differs for police officer in tougher n higher risk departments aka Gurkha Contingent / Special Operations Command?

Hey just joined the Ministry in Nov'16 therefore new to this whole PB thing. Can I check when will I know how much PB I am given via PaC@Gov? I know it will be a default C though.

Default C is one month, but because you only joined in Nov'16, so you will only get pro-rated PB counting from Nov'16 onwards.

Yup yup. Based on the number of working days from Nov '16 to the cut off date for the specific bonus. Got my first year's bonus all in pro-rated amounts.

For PB, if u started at some point last year, u will have to pro-rate according to 1st Jan 2016 to 31st Dec 2016. Say if u started in 1st July 2016, you should get about 1/2 of it (6 out of 12 mths), The pro-rating is based on exact number of days u are in service in that calendar year.

Gross x PB quantum(subjected to pro-rate, if applicable).

PB Quantum is determined by your ranked performance grading. Even within the same grading, there could be a range.

e.g.
A grade: 3.4 to 4.5
B grade: 2.3 to 3.3
C grade: 1.2 to 2.2

Say out of all the B gradings given, you're right smacked in the middle, the you'll get:

Gross Monthly Salary x 2.8 = $X

i see. no wonder i heard some places got more differences C C+ C- B B+, but some places only C / B / A, no plus/minus

i guess there's some form of differentiation between good Cs and normal Cs if there is no plus/minus involved. Since so many people are getting C, it is only fair that some get better C than the others to serve as motivation

this one every year also same question. MINDEF PB is always the last day of Mar (i.e. 31 Mar 17)

Does it also depend on where one is? In my previous posting I had a B grading and PB was 3.5 mths. In my current posting, I asked around discreetly and people didn't believe a B grade could get 3.5 mths PB.
