Your performance is quite poor. My cousin joined at grade 13 and was drawing 5k.

compare age la bro. if your cousin joined at grade 13 after 5 years of working aka 30 years old, and this fella is grade 11 after 3 years of working and 28 years old, who do you think is the one performing poorly?

Don't be stupid bro, that guy joined at grade 13 and paid 5k. This guy currently grade 11 and only earning 4.9k. Who is better off? In time to come when that guy gets promoted from grade 13 to grade 11, I expect him to be making close to 8k.

You're not being transparent enough. My guess is that guy is on an economist scheme, which is different. FCH on that scheme can get starting pay of about $4.9k.

So you're not comparing apple to apple dude. Like that I can also say I join arm forces and equivalent of MX13, starting pay $4.6k.

Hope you save up kid! Don't start spending to put up a flashy show like so many of your peers. It doesn't last. I met so many ex-bank employees working from scratch in the civil service when they get fire in their early 40s. The joke is quite a lot of them have nothing to show for. Spending on the high life and not planning for the end.

Two of the ex-banker in my department sold their flashy cars and start taking Mrt as the loans are unsustainable. It was VERY humbling to them. Once you hit a certain age, no bank will want you and if you are trapped with high mortgage and loans, getting out of that financial mess will be brutal. Don't look down on civil servants. We are running a marathon.

From the way he speaks, this one is probably the security guard or office cleaner working in a bank and fantasizing that he is actually a banking staff. Anyway, he is probably mistaken! Everyone is actually talking about monthly salary instead of his yearly salary of 6.4k. Haha!

Haha! If his claim of 6.4k is true, high chance he works in sales. Most likely selling credit cards or financial products. Many ah beng types like him are deployed in sales.

If credit card sales can earn 6.4k monthly, I won't mind doing it also. That is double the salary of a fresh grad who joins civil service. After 2 years the civil servant only earning 4k.

And your status

Unregistered 14-02-2017 03:12 PM

Hi, I have been in service for coming 8 years now and I would like some perspective on how I'm faring. I joined the civil service with a Masters degree (non-scholar) and this has been my progression rate.

2009- joined service as mx13
2010- progressed to mx12
2012- promoted to mx11
2016- promoted to mx11a

Im abit disheartened because I havent been given any management roles as my work is more specialist in nature...should I stay on?

Mind to provide some other information? Your current age and your current salary (basic and annual package)

Whats with this sense of self entitlement? From what I know the cep for all fresh grads is just a grade or two above MX13 so that they may get promoted the first year. Thereafter your performance counts to upgrade this CEP.

Work hard dont slack otherwise you will be stuck.

May I ask the meaning of (no bar)?

For example, does it means that one salary at MX12 would stagnate at the maximum of 5874 if one is not promoted to MX13?

Hi all, i am currently a perm staff with a ministry and i just received an offer from a stat bd. As the civil service pb will be given out usually in late march (which is 1 month from now), i am wondering if anyone has come across the same situation as me before and if the receiving stat bd is willing to wait till you receive the pb and serve out the notice before joining them. Thanks

Unregistered 01-03-2017 08:43 PM

Will you still get PB if you gotten D?

New Band system

Hi all. Anyone able to share more on the new Band 1 2 and 3 system for PB? Is it that as long as u get the grade within the same bank, you will get same amount of bonus (e.g 1 month)?

doolittle 04-03-2017 01:48 PM

is the annual PB paid out during our respective March payday or is it last day of march standard across the board ?

The PB will be announced around the 19 (last yr date) if your dept could release the result earlier verbally, u would know earlier. Payment is around 20+ of Mar.

Anyone knows when would be one informed for promotion?

Unregistered 07-03-2017 08:38 PM

As per previous post, notify promotion by bosses after final meeting and not via hr system... Tks!

Unregistered 08-03-2017 12:05 AM

I heard from bosses that there is a promotion list furnished by HR every Dec on the eligible list of promotees. If a person is performing well, he/she can be recommended for promotion in advance. Otherwise, you have to wait out your time. We have a huuuggge group of mx 12 waiting to go to 11, and with the introduction of 11A, will 12 to 11 be easier? I am
Just wondering if these mid range officers are automatically promoted after a few years, or isit based on merits (eg: good performance). Not talking about scholars here, but regular farmers. It seemed like a lot of my colleagues (mx12) wait out 4 to 6 years to get to 11, don't know why the people who posted here promote like nobody's business. Are there like elitist ministries where farmers go up the ladder faster? Makes me kinda shi bai still stuck at 12 after 2 years and i thought it is normal.

Seriously, going from MX 12 to 11 in 2 years isnt really the norm. When people tell their stories here, you should really take them with a pinch of salt, or there may be other reasons why they are promoted faster, headcount, mid-career entry etc.

If your dept has a huge group of MX12, I think your main concern is how you can perform and outshine them if you want your promotion. You can't take promotions for granted.

Unregistered 08-03-2017 07:53 PM

That's true, I got a B despite that its only my second year, guess i will count myself lucky then. Just have to continue to work on my flaws. Is there any B+, just wondering? It seemed like very few people got promoted this year.

Unregistered 08-03-2017 08:12 PM

Anyone can confirm increment for B? Not fixed rate right? Got more than $200?

Think between MX12 and 11 is ard 3 years on average, dependent on your ministry. If you have started from MX13 and have not reached MX11 by 5 years of service, then you might be behind the curve.

What salary would you expect for a 5 years experience at MX11?

That's why need to ask and confirm right. Increment is based on economic progression, potential and grade. The same B, some might get 2.5, some 2.75. For that, increment also varies. Nobody would really know until it is in pac@gov. There is quite possibly a format to calculate this which only HR will know. Just like promotion criteria only HR can advise.

I don't think 3 years is quite the normal. Where i am at, 4 to 5 years in the norm. Your CEP is likely 1 or 2 grade above ur current grade. If u get to 11 from 12 in 3 years, they might be looking also at your years of experience. If u are a fresh grad who enters at 13 and promoted to 11 in 3 years, this is highly unlikely even for scholars.

Don't harbour unrealitic thoughts, work well and u will be rewarded, maybe not soon enough but eventually you get there. Most importantly, this is at least a stable job for most . You won't strike it rich but you wouldn't starve either.

Sorry dude, but there are cases of scholars who are MX11 after 1 year. i.e. double promotion after 1 year. Sure some may think i'm bu**s***ing, but its up to you to decide for yourself. The point i want to make is there ain't any strong principle for promotion. Even though IM states blah blah blah, justifications can be made for exceptions.

Bottom line, promotion ain't the only thing to fight for. Instead, garner experience and capabilities.

It depends on your job scope too. For generalist positions, might take a bit longer to get from 12 to 11. For specialist positions in Stat Boards (such as engineers), getting from their equivalent of 12 to 11 is usually around 3 years.
