Eh fark you la.
You 10 years at least promoted to M2.

Some people 10 years still E6. Talk so much.

They just sent out an email about some staff 50 years.. Still just a principal technician.
That one is M2?

But the funny thing is I try to search his email so I can send him personalised email..
But cannot find him in the directory.

How strange.

Unregistered 23-03-2021 10:50 AM

long story short,

we need to take charge of our own career instead of being led by this company..

I used to be in St but left few years ago. But I am curious they send this type of email? To encourage or discourage staff?

Unregistered 24-03-2021 12:43 AM

I think it’s meant to discourage employees so that they can quit and new freshies can be hired

Exactly, very political environment, f up M1 who just surf sgx daily leaving work to engineers, get commended by dsta for leading us well. Increment 60 70 every year, president forum heae the senior management tellung u if u find grass greener iutside u r free to leave, airborne military major colonel coming in as senior management.

Left ST 8 yrs ago, nv looked back. The total increment i got with ST over 3 yes is lesser than what i got yearly with my current. They told me im not ready for project managenent. I left and became their cliebt managing them😂

Not happy quit lor. But the problem is all too comfortable, cannot survive outside, scare to leave.
Take the first step la, you won't regret one. You see the money outside, you will realised how much you missing.

How come some people don't need to wear mask?
I see some people just take off mask in meeting or in office etc.

Where to report my colleagues?
Annoyed by their entitlement.

People work outdoor / hard labor still need to wear mask.
All this lazy office workers wear mask difficult to breathe.

Really kns.

How come the pay overlap one?
So does it mean if I'm E6 now 6.5k then promoted to M1?
I'm 7k then cannot increase pay liao?

The pay scale abit disgusting

not accurate

E6 can be as low as 4k

Yep
I was offered E6 4k

Imagine my shock when a junior project engineer keep asking me how much pay etc.
Cause he want to push work to me.

I showed him my payslip. 4k
He kept quiet. Cause his pay is 4.2k lol

This kind of overlap is stupid.
Then the E5 everytime lunch keep complaining how he don't get promotion after 4 years bla bla bla.
I shut him down. You want to be promoted to E6 and take pay cut to 4k?

Also not sure the reasoning why have a large pay range.
A better scheme is to have smaller ranger and more grade.
So you feel like you made progression. Every few years "promoted" to a new salary grade.
Instead of work 20 years only promoted 2 times.

Unregistered 01-04-2021 08:36 AM

A better approach is to make the E5 range smaller. Mainly for fresh grad. So people who stayed 2 or 3 years get promoted to senior level E6. But really their grade is just the upper E5.

Then E6 range a bit bigger. So people who are senior and more experience get promoted to E7. But still in the senior engineer level... Not all roads lead to stupid management.

If good pay only go to non technical managers who just use their mouth to work..
You will wonder why would talented engineers.those Google level work for this **** ckmpany

So that explains why engineers don't feel value. Foever work on E5 and E6.
Then when they are promoted to M1 cause they reach the ceiling of rjr grade..

All take on the manager role and never touch technical anymore.
Then just spend years playing politics. Manage engineers with no engineering experience.

Is a joke.
It's like a manager go to construction site and instruct people to do this do that.
But they themselves never been in a construction site.

And the managers keep getting higher. Cause the higher management only see managers... Engineers are invisible slaves.

So people who want to get promoted also play this game. Quit technical. And pick up ******** skills.
So end up everyone just suck up.

And best kind is those super aras management intro people directly into manager position.
Just because they are from army or dsta or mindef

And you see they just do nothing.
Literally like nothing. Read newspaper brunch until 10 am chit chat kind.

It's really really a retirement village **** show.
Where only the engineers are slave working for no promotion.

And those managers say you are so lucky to still have your job

Unregistered 01-04-2021 08:45 AM

Thank god I quit this place.
Now I'm with NCS. Yes it's no better.

But my RO is hands on in the project.
Architect.
Not like in ST. All the "principal engineer, assistant" bla bla are just "I just manage, I don't know technical" people.

It's quite refreshing to see that technical people have a "senior" role here other than management.

That is why many of the ambitious young engineers left in a jiffy. Even if we don't talk about promotion, an engineer's pay will be lacking behind new hires the moment the next batch of students graduates. New hire basics jump more than existing staff annual increment.

Which is stupid. Existing staff should get higher paid.
New hire. No bloody experience. Want high pay go die la.

What I experienced is more disgusting imo.

I left as a E5 with 5 years experience. Pay package was $4200 under the new scheme.

When they next advertised for the opening, they offered up to $6000, which is more than what I would have gotten even if I'm promoted 3 times within the 5 years.

It's a vicious cycle.
Existing staff don't get good pay cause senior management eat up all the profit.
New hire high pay cause Singaporean gone made and start offering high pay to fresh grad.

So new hire with 5k join dunno do anything.
4k 5 years exp ofc not happy la. So don't teach anything. Just push everything to the 5k.

New hire think he being bullied cause all the seniors do nothing. While he slaves away.
But new hire doesn't know their senior fresh grad pay is 2.5k work so many years now only 4 to 5 k.
While fresh grad entitlement.

So end up new hire quit. Senior keep their job with low pay and whine.. And dreaming about promotion and high pay.

Anything just hire new hire and sabo them.
That is ST in a nut shell.
And you endure all the abuse etc. Also no promotion.
Cause you already started with high pay.

What you smoking?
People who work in ST only limited to 3 promotions their life time.
You think 3 times within 5 years?
You are entitled fresh grad la. Entitled fresh grad of 2015...

The fact that you are 4.2k same paid as E6 new hire at 4.2k means you are up for promotion to E6 the next round.
You should have waited one more year. But alas.

Unregistered 01-04-2021 12:17 PM

Some more the pay is including the 1/12 AWS one

Give u a false senses of higher pay Lol

Give u a false senses of higher pay Lol

Higher base is always good.
Cause I have negotiate salary before.
And when I was in NCS the base is lower. But the bonus is like 3 months excluding aws.
I told the new job they don't believe. They just want to match my base pay...

Their reasoning is bonus is a variable. Not always 3 months. Which is true...
But ncs that time was paying lower base but higher bonus... To keep people for at least 1 year...

Anyway higher base is better. You don't have to slave for 12 months.
But it also means don't have to work hard. Cause you already get the higher paid every month without doing more...

That's why bonus works..
But since company want to give the illusion of higher pay but no aws.
Nobody going to stay the full year.
When the going gets tough... Then just quit. No need to hang it there until aws..
