you mean the annual salary of engineer start working from fresh grad (With NS 2nd lower/upper) after 6 years in DSTA, assuming he is average performer.? He is getting between 100k to 120k per annum??

real or not?

mean the basic is $6250 to $7500/mth, isn't that abit too high with only 6 years exp, some-more with just "average" perfomer?

I know DSTA pay is high but I seriously doubt it's that high at 110k for average 6th year guy. There's a diff between the projected pay of a fresh engineer joining now in 6 years time, and one that joined 6 years ago. If you earn $110k in 6 years time that is around $92k in today's dollars, which is roughly the amount I think a current 6th year engineer in DSTA is drawing now for an average performer.

I used to be from DSTA and my estimate based on my friends is that a current 6th year average engineer is drawing around $5500 to $6000 basic /mth, with total bonus incl of aws of around 4 mths this year.

Pay progression beyond 6th year is uncertain, since there is a ceiling for most people, and switching out is hard when all your experience is in defence proj mgmt.

Any genuine DSTA employees feel free to comment on the ranges as I'm also v interested to know. :)

i am currently working in DSTA. 2nd Upper guy. Joined in 2008. Working about 5.5 years. My total annual is more than 100k but less than 110k.

For the past few years, there had been alot of market adjustments and special bonus (MAC), so it is possible to earn 110k pa as the bonus could be as much as 6mths (including AWS). But i cant say for future as this depends alot on the special bonus. without the special bonus, it would not be possible to hit 110k pa for an average performer.

So the basic mthly of 5.5 to 6k is accurate for a current engineer with 5.5 to 6 years exp?

i would say 5.5 - 7
