Hi guys,

Do NCS hire people with 1/2 private 1/2 local degree (unisim) ?
Do 1 year contract job have bonus / aws?

I'm thinking of NCS just for putting more things in my resume and i current have a job that gives 1 month aws + 2 months bonus with gross pay around 2.8k (Not yet grad from unisim) so if I want to change job, I have to know that NCS will pay me at least the same if not more than what i'm earning now.

So assuming NCS do not give bonus/aws for 1 year contract position, then I would expect 3.5k-4k gross pay to be on par with my current job.

I mean so many people say NCS is just a bad idea but if i'm a bottom feeder and it pays better than my current job then why not?

Edit: Looking for a programming related job.

Why not?
Because the working environment is crazy: long hours, unsupportive boss, harsh client, bad colleagues and all of that just for worst pay in the industry. You will regret it the first month you join.

So jia lat ah...

How does 1 year contract works?

Work 1 year and go or do they offer options to extend for another year and so on ? Got bonus or aws for 1 year contract job? Cause if no bonus/aws, I would expect a salary comparable to my current job that has aws and bonus. Any private degree grad here or fresh grad here?

Is it possible to command 4k gross (assume if no bonus/aws) for someone with diploma working for 4 years + and just grad with a unisim degree?

Contract treatment depends lah, no fix way of doing it. But my advice is do not join a contract job hoping that it will be extend, sometimes can extend but now bad economy chances are very low.

As for 4k for a fresh unisim + work exp, it is possible but very unlikely unless you are doing a higher level work that is directly related to your 4 years exp & what you study in unisim. Otherwise you will be treated like most pte grads exec, about 2.4-3k.

Direct Contract with NCS? I doubt so.. You will most likely be a Sub-Con with no bonus. NCS is no longer giving out AWS! If you re-contract for another year, they will most likely give you a recontract bonus. (Depends on your nego skills).

Your 4 years working experience is "tagged" to your diploma, so they will consider that you are fresh out of uni and will most likely give you the Fresh Grad pay. 4K is highly unlikely because they are very cheap skate. Prolly 2.8k to 3k (again depends on how you nego).

Source: I have recently signed a contract staff in Feb and he is a sub-con with no bonus. Initially HR gave him 2.8k but we nego to 3k.

Got an offer from NCS, about 10% pay increase. But I heard from others that NCS brand name not good and next time will affect my chances to join big players like SAP, Microsoft, Google etc. Will I be discriminated if my CV is from local IT firms like NCS and ST Elec?

And best of all, by joining NCS, you will "....bebe discriminated if my CV is from local IT firms like NCS and ST Elec"??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH. What a fool, please don't join NCS because I doubt u deserve it.

Good compare to what? If compare with those 10 man show startups of course good. If compare to global branded IT firms then NCS is the fastest way for their HR to thrash your CV.

What's the job levels like in NCS management chain?
CEO
President?
Vice President
Senior director
Director
Assist Director
Senior manager?

How much is say, their Senior manager or Director getting?
Heard that it's very political up there, though one can retire there.
Still holds true?
Considering either Gov or quasi-Gov like NCS to work in..

Unregistered 18-06-2017 04:48 PM

Went to an interview for software engineer .net role c#, and just got offered the role. I'm a fresh graduate whose programming skills is only at the moderate level. Know how to do object oriented programming and basic sql scripting etc. The ncs manager/leader interviewer said not to worry as they will be training me. They are offering me around 2.3k.

On the other hand as I have interest in games programming I got offered a job in a small startup/sme doing multimedia stuffs. My role in that sme of 20 people, would be the Games Developer. But I will be the sole developer/programmer in their games team with no extra team members except for artist and designer. Only guidance i can get would be from another programmer in another department, which offered to assist me in showing me the logic but I would end of the day be the one that is responsible for the development.
Pay offered at the SME would be around 2.2K with opportunity to increase above 2.3K based on performance.

Any tips on which to choose? I'm more interested in the SME position offering but to be the only one in charge of developing the games for their clients may be a challenge as although I have 3 month experience using the same tools required and same language, I don't think I could work solo just yet.

For a fresh grad, is NCS offering better and a more safer route? I know from reading you guys have stated that its bad for career advancement etc, but would my programming skills at least improve in NCS so that in future (few months or a year time) I could be more confident in myself and take up jobs that is a one man team like the SME's game development position?

Unregistered 18-06-2017 08:31 PM

Diploma holder right?
If degree then 2.3k is too low

Unregistered 19-06-2017 10:01 AM

Is the PR out ? I went to the portal and saw nothing

Unregistered 19-06-2017 02:46 PM

Got PB already. Sucks

What did you guys get?

Unregistered 19-06-2017 02:48 PM

Wah.. got so many things say ah..

Firstly, don't go NCS.

Secondly, if you must got to NCS, start looking for other companies immediately.

For real, too answer some of your questions. PR is out today. Its like ****. Not worth all the hardwork we put into the job.

There are entry level positions every month for java/.NET developers. about 20 per month.

If you're a degree holder, and they offerring you 2.3k means something is wrong. The entry level position i mentioned offers 3.3k starting.

Don't count on going for courses and stuff at NCS because its all for show. You wont have time or opportunity to go.

Worked here for 1.5 years. Looking for job elsewhere already.

Unsure whether this is the path I should take therefore would like to get a taste of the working life first before going to SIM GE for degree. Is 2.3K for diploma holder considered market rate?

1. Did your programming skills and problem solving skills improve at least throughout your 1.5 years? Like do you see an improvement before and after joining NCS and feel more confident in taking up other programming based roles?

2. Also is the working hours quite bad where you everyday end work later than 6pm? Like how much OT is there on a monthly or weekly basis? Just an estimate

3. Do you think in my case they would pay for OT?

4. Did they pay you OT?
