Most professional services (non uniformed) (e.g., MFA, Legal Services, Economists, Statisticians, Engineers and etc) pay that high (+ ~15%)
Defence (DXO service) is also about (+ ~10%)

Relative to an average generic MX keeping all else constant.

Uniformed has combat allowance, so usually around ~20% more on average, assuming that they finish uni and promoted to a CPT.

My friend from a world top engineering school offered 3.95 also at a different stat board, male 2nd upper, generic role.

Ns usually worth around 100-200 more?

For your reference.

Specialized schemes pay more than that...can be about 1k+ more per month

FCH LTA is only mid 4 and FCH CPT(1) is about 5.5k. Specialised schemes earn similar.

Yup that's right. NS is about 200-300 more

Unregistered 09-08-2019 03:24 PM

people here should compare total package rather than pay alone.

some of them gets high monthly but get 15.5 for average package. some others pay normal but get quoted 16-18 as average package. so compare total pack then makes sense.

for cpt, and that is still excluding vocation pay (eg. combat pay)

When you guys post your offer, is it the probation salary or after probation salary? Mine differ quite significantly after probation but the probation period is one year.

Unregistered 10-08-2019 09:56 AM

Depends, if they are fresh grad then before probation.

Wow, one year that’s long. Mind sharing which industry? I only know defence x has 1 year probation. I thought mostly is less than that.

If you count, it usually the same, if one’s probation is longer, then they confirmation bonus is to make up to the same level of those who were confirmed earlier i guess?

is anyone here familiar with the current trends in salaries for MX scheme? I am in a social ministry for quite some time now and it appears to me that there are more and more ppl hitting MX 9 (super scale). It used to be quite rare for anyone to hit but nowadays, it seems more common.

this forum is for people discuss and seeking advice from others. Its okay that if you don't help but keep quiet at one corner but your comment simply are not helpful and unbecoming. I have a friend who like to talk alot unnecessarily and not pass inappropriate comments. Now i finally know why he is hated among us.

Unregistered 11-08-2019 08:24 AM

Does anyone want to go private but feel too comfortable with the "almost there" pay in the CS? How do people break the inertia?

U arent wrong. They have productivity cuts every few years. The main reason is to innovate and motivate pple to streamline processes and up productivity.

So yes they do 2-3 pples work but with the same pay.

Hi All,

I need some help from experienced/active HR personnel in the Civil Service who has managed at least 100 to 200 people in your M/SB.

I am a local diploma holder who had resigned some time back from the CS due to high workload, unearthly working hours and unhappiness at the way I was treated aka bao ka liao (Hokkien). I was officially told that my last drawn rank and salary was the equivalent of a Division 1 Officer.

May I know that if I were to rejoin the CS again, how long would it take for me to re-attain everything related to my Division 1 post? Would it be possible, say after the 2 years probation (which I heard is the norm nowadays) and emplacement to the permanent scheme? Or would I have to start all over again with a new CEP, just like other fresh diploma grads?

Thanks a lot

35 yo male with NS from local uni and non-scholar. Now drawing 8.9k (excluding bonuses) monthly in a ministry with a typical 15-17 months' annual package. Been working 11 years there. Am I doing ok?

You posted to feel good about yourself? In mandarin: 明知故问. I am a non scholar male degree holder too, early 30s and only $60k/annum (including all bonuses with B grade performance) in the MX scheme. Increment $200 a year. Of course I'm sour!

How do you have 11 years experience at age 35? Did you graduate at 24? or this year 36?
I think you are above average based on the posts in this thread.

I have worked in a statboard for 20 years and is a diploma holder, but I am currently holding a division 1 position. If i apply for another job at careers@gov, will i be able to retain my division status or I have to start all over again at the the statboard or ministry?

I am another poster. Why is there a big difference between your salary and the salary of 35 years old poster? Is this due to job function?

Possibly. Some places pay more than others, increment speed, promotion speed etc. can differ and over time it does adds up

This is for first class?
So females = 4.2k and males = 4.4k?

roughly., could be more or less but should be around that ballpark.

yes - only adding all the ops pay + promotion to CPT (most, if not all, officers will be emplaced to CPT a few mths after completing their degrees + passing IPPT), first class NUS would yield more than 5k.
