Distinctions in themselves don’t mean much, but it means something if you get enough distinctions to be ranked among the top 10. Same as for getting first class honours. It’s something you can put in your CV.

I had been an emotional support dog for a lawyer (she is my senior) in my firm. basically it is her trauma dumping on me for hours every week (ask me to listen to her personal problems, come to get her when she gets depressed over ridiculous relationship, stay back to comfort her) to the point I got fed up. this is out of my job scope.

All in - meaning with bonus? Had impression it was about 17K/ month - so your number is 14 months worth, meaning 2 months bonus only?

Problem with local lawyers is they like to tell you their salary amounts which are frontloaded with bonus. $17k per month is actually front loaded bonus already.

If you don’t front load it, the base salary is more like $13-$14k per month.
