2.5PQE. Want to jump soon.

Depends on a lot of factors. Not enough info.

I would say 5-8k base + aws + disc. bonus. Lower end for local firms (non-listed), single jurisdiction job scope or purely commercial advisory work. Higher end for local listed firms, MNCs, multiple jurisdiction job scope and mix of com/corp/compliance.

More if you join fintech/banking (and you have experience in fintech/banking). If so, i would say 10-12k base + aws + disc. bonus/esop depending on what firm you join.

Ask again in a week or two when re-sit results are out.

I am a senior with 4 Pqe. I can answer this.

One of our batchmate, Mr A, had to resit.

The firm retained Mr A nonetheless.

But I have also seen a person who failed at first instance but passed the resit didn’t get retained. But the boss didn’t really like him anymore.

So it all depends. It depends which firm did you fail in.
If you are in an A team and everyone there is top (summa fch, ex JLCs) and you fail, game over.

I thought resit means you're out

Make failure rate 80% for all Singapore Bar examinations. It should be marked on a bell curve.

That way the intake of lawyers is drastically reduced.

Anyway trainees are soon required to do 1 year TCs

Making driving license exam fail rate 80% too. That way COE don’t need to inflate so high and can drastically reduce cars on the road. Lesser idiots on the road too.

Can or not? If not why artificially inflate the fail rate of professional exams?

Unregistered 05-04-2021 10:33 PM

will the 1 year tc bring down the supply by hindering ppl to do law

Unregistered 05-04-2021 10:43 PM

The 1 year TC is actually a good thing.

You still can be called to the bar if you pass part b only.

Just cannot practice
