My buddies have built up their wealth through shares accummulation from the day they drew their first pay checks. Their stocks may be worth 700K to 1mil now but that's only because the shares grew in value. Many of their stocks were acquired at or after IPOs, and many of the shares have splitted and gave out bonus shares since then. In all, if I recalled correctly they only invested 500k or less. Shares are easier to accummulate and more liquid than properties to manage - well suited for conservative middle income earners to hack and still be able to sleep soundly at night.

My buddies, they off loaded some of their appreciated shares to buy investment condo. They only paid 30% and took loan for the remaining 70% of the property cost. And why not? Housing loans are at all time low of 1% (or lower in the first year). The rest of their wealth are kept in shares with dividend returns of 6 - 8%.

I only mentioned their dividend incomes of 50K, because their rental income (about 40K) are being used to pay off the housing loan. When their housing loans are paid up eventually, they will be looking at 90K passive income annually. Can shake leg and attend AGM for free meals.

Nice to see how you actually detail your investment to obtain your security, I too know of a few people your age and older who have acquired blue chip stocks over the years and just enjoy dividend payouts.

Compared to the usual my net worth is XXX post its very refreshing.

all my $$$ is sunk into my home (freehold double storey house in D15 worth $2.5M which is paid up), so only way to retire early is to downgrade maybe to a $1M home and invest the remaining cash into dividend stocks. unfortunately my wife is not keen to downgrade.

i'm 36 btw.

Jobless and still looking for jobs.

I'm 24 this year graduated with a diploma in tourism from a local poly. Most of the jobs offered usually require only 'O' level for entry job and hardly any of it need a diploma. Higher position job that need a degree usually required with experience.

I am trying to get a job in the casino and I planning to start from low level. I sent them my resume for a cashier job (require only 'O' level) on Monday and till now still no reply yet. Previously I applied for a position that require diploma education and no exp needed they also never shortlist me and the same job was posted on their website again later on.

To be frank most of the jobs in the tourism/hotel/travel agency they only offered $1200 - $1400 and highest offer is only $1500.

I was thinking should I just get a job in a call center? Their pay like starting already $1800 - $1900 but I didn't apply cos I know I don't really like the job.

Today I sent out 3 more resume. Two is for front desk job then the other one is jackpot operation assistant ('N' level requirement).

I totally regret took up the tourism course as I'm not really the kind of person who will always smile to strangers and can always hit up with strangers then keep talking as if we know each other for a very long time already. I'm more of a geek and into computer and stuffs but its too late for everything now so i just suck up to it.

Hi I studied business in NUS but I am doing a call center job, I am getting 2900 starting pay.

With this kind of pay, I basically suck it up and do the job. Until I get a better job, I will stay with the call center.
