Very hard to get in now. Out of 10 applicants, only about 2 can get in. |

Not true. There are people without cep at least seo 1 but managed to get into HQ through open posting. |

It depends on ur experiences in school and ur interview performance as well |

Nowadays, it's more stringent. You need to be of a min. subgrade and min. CEP to even qualify to be formally appointed to certain roles, like KP roles or HQ positions. |
How do we know if we are promoted this year?
|
Is it P recommend some teachers or all teachers for promotion?
And hq will promote based on the list? |
Promotion
Hi,
My grades since entering service: 2018: C 2019: B (promoted to GEO3) 2020: C+ 2021: C+ Just wanted to check if my career progression is okay and based on the grades that I have received, when will I likely be promoted to GEO4? |

I just received news of promotion to Geo 4
Joined in 2018 : (Geo 2) 2019: C (Geo 3) 2020: B 2021: B (Geo 4) |
Doesn't matter. Being a teacher is a boring dead-end job
|
So sad that all you do is try to shape children into being better versions of yourself, and knowing that you will always remain as you were and all of them will eventually be more successful and established than you.
|
why is it so tough to go from geo3 to geo4 :( trying to limit number of people applying for kp?
|
I think I am destined to be stuck at geo 4. Already stagnant for 5 years and feel so demotivated at work every day.

This is the start of my 4th year in school. Started as Geo 2 and just got promoted to Geo 4. Is this rate of promotion a norm?
|
is it true that you will only get promoted if you get 2 consecutive B grades?
I am a geo2, got C last year and B this year ): |

Maybe you are being promoted in October? |
Hi,
Can anyone help on this. Im a diploma holder and lets say if im accepted by MOE to teach P.E, i can only teach primary school right? Is there anyway i could teach secondary school in the future? Or will i stuck with teaching primary school? |

It's speculated that the massive slowdown in (especially) geo3 to geo4 is due to saturation at geo4/5 grades. So a lot of farmers and/or people nearer to average performance are going to continue to be stuck. |

The former is healthier for the organisation in the long run, although it is more expensive. Too bad, this is Singapore Inc. GEO3s gonna hentak kaki, and then leave for greener pastures while they are still young. |
What's the point on discussion about promotions etc.
Your career as a teacher is a dead end job with no transferrable skills with mediocre pay given the amount of effort you need to dedicate to this crappy role |

Some ppl whom are favoured by the sch get promoted faster. If CEP and pb are the same for both persons, why do 1 promote faster? So isit sch pushed for promotion or HQ decides in the end? |

Last time my school got 2 maths teacher. One is scholar and very active. Math olympiad. Maths a paper. Etc. The other is just as good. But not a scholar. The scholar got promoted.... Now the scholar promoted all the way to overseas director of maths program. Promotions are for individuals who strive to be better than their current level. Teacher who just good in teaching the current level is only good for their current level. No need promotions |

What I understand (again, not verified because insider sources will obviously not discuss this at length) is, HR will flag officers for promotion at intervals. The algorithm that determines this interval is not known to us, all we know is that it is somewhat related to CEP. Based on this, the school then decides whether to support/not support the promotion. HR will then execute the final decision. That's why they say that "the rate at which you MAY be promoted depends on CEP, but whether you are actually promoted at each instance depends on your performance". You would have heard this line while in NIE before, or even from colleagues/mentors. |
Cohort Promotion
Hi, I am a GEO2. Got my confirmation letter (1 year after NIE) just yesterday.
I heard that cohort promotion for guys is usually a year after NIE (faster than girls who usually take 2 years). I wasn't promoted this year though. Wondering if any of the guys here are or were in the same situation as me? thanks |
