But nonetheless promotion is coming for you. You will hit SEO grades with much higher salary cap.

SH, LH can hit SEO 1 of 9k max salary cap.

HOD can hit SEO 2 of 10k max salary cap.

Whereas a HOT can only hit GEO 5 of 7.84k max salary cap. The salary differences between GEO and SEO was much lower but this changed when they revised the salary scheme in 2015 prior to the 2015 GE.

Wah so little? Leadership track some more leh. If non leadership must eat grass already.

Non leadership track, aka teaching track. The max salary of GEO 5 capped at $7845.

But if one aspires to climb, there is Senior Teacher with a max salary of SEO 1 capped at $9k.

If you are coming into teaching for the money, you won't last. You can earn more outside. If you want money, then should go into sales or those mega franchise

NS also counts as teaching experience and increments will be given. Then depending whether you are Degree or PGDE, further increments will be included during and after your training.

1st class /2nd upper honours guys can get around $4k. Both have the same starting bracket.

Be contented.. There are some who earn lesser than EOs.
At least teaching is a very meaningful job.. If I can be accepted for the job, I will be very happy. Can teach those low ability students and help them pass their exam. Sad to say, not many people have the opportunity to or are accepted.

When can a BT apply for open posting?

Very hard to feel contented when you need to eat crappy canteen food everyday leh :(

Grass is always greener on the other side. There are people who wants to get into teaching but there are also people who wants to get out of teaching. Definitely need more than passion to sustain this job.

Salary Revision

Hi,

Recently, I have been given a verbal offer by MOE (awaiting them to call HR since I am from another ministry)

My current salary is $A and MOW is offering me $B.

In Apr, I will be having a pay increment and:

My salary is $A+.

Will MOE revise the salary that they will be offering me since I will be getting in increment in Apr and I havent sign any contract yet.

Unlikely. You should have negotiated with then increment in mind.

I guess some of the voices here have reached Parliament...

Then again, this issue has already been raised before and there were hardly any changes after that...:(

How much would an MOE teacher with approximately 5 years of experience teaching in a secondary school earn? Anyone can share? Thanks.

As long as you fulfil two years of service in the first school, and your ranking is at least C-.

Every 2 years of related external experience is considered 1 increment + base starting salary. But that experience must be deemed acceptable by moe.

Post out of HQ

Hi any ex hq officer has info about the process for officers due to post out of hq?
Is there an enhanced posting exercise in April and is it limited to only geo5 and above? Or is it also through open posting? Thanks

Unregistered 27-02-2021 02:12 PM

Is it true that someone teaching at say HCI will be earning significantly more than another at Beedog Sec?

Assuming same qualifications and 2 years of exp

If it's under moe secondment, it's same salary. But when you resign from moe to be staff at independent schools, salary is higher but it's on perpetual rolling contract.

Unregistered 28-02-2021 10:34 AM

There is EPS. Unless things have changed recently, GEO4s were eligible as well.

But if officer doesn't secure any offer then, can proceed to take part in open posting as well - failing which, HR will just assign.

If one is on NPL for more than 6 mths, how can one get re-posted to another school?

Unregistered 02-03-2021 09:25 PM

My understanding is that HR will automatically post you somewhere else.

You have to apply through open posting or through your connections.. In the past, HR will automatically post you to a school but this is no longer the case.

If you can't get into a school through your own means after more than 6 months of NPL, your npl will be extended. Have even seen teachers who eventually resigned.

MOE has changed fundamentally.

Email HR tell them that you want to curtail NPL.
Submit doctor memo saying you're fit if it is medical reason for your NPL.
Then, they will email you list of schools OPE

Hardly. As flexi adjunct, you have no job security.

Think twice, especially if you are a pam specialist. Now pam ptns filling up in most schools. Occasionally some vacancies, but not long term. Even flexis teaching ems are asked to go the min BTs come in.
