Is a C+ for my first ever PB grading good enough?

In a way,I would love to have a proper job like teaching but I came out many years ago and it's no longer possible to rejoin due to my relative old age currently so now it is just some relief teaching to support the full time teachers whenever necessary and tuition classes in afternoons. But I have learned to be grateful and thankful especially in times like this. To all teachers out here, you have my utmost support, respect and keep doing the wonderful work in our kids and the rest will take care itself. Cheers and jia you!!

With a number of countries on lock down currently, people around the world are actually starting to realise what a difficult job we have daily when they have to home school their children :P This coming week is going to be a challenge with all the new measures being put in place but hang in there, we can get through this!

Is it really fast? It took me 4 years to get to GEO 4 and another 3 years to GEO 5. My batch mates (males) who took on appointment are progressing at the same rate too.

Anyway, if one finds that he/she is stuck in subgrade (for degree holder), it might really be the management issue. A red flag and indicator to move elsewhere.

Year 6 Promoted to Geo 4 (C)

I did something wrong in year 2. To be honest, it all depends on your school. So the C-, D meant no promotion for next 3 years, it's true.

Are you a mid career?

7 years in this. It's really tiring me out.
A mistake in year 3 of service made me get a C-.
But it has been so many years. Still GEO1. Still a C grader.

😔

The reason you are not getting a B could be due to the no. of GEO1 officers in your school. With that small number, they will only be able to give likely just one A or B. So it could be the case that you have worked hard, but there are other people who have performed better. I can understand how hard it is to take on many responsibilites and yet is not being recognised. Maybe look at the wuantum, you might be the top C. Promotion will come eventually. Keep your spirits high.

PB is out. Any idea which grade=how many months? Is it fixed like
A=?months
B=?months

Or there is a range?

Thanks all

Unregistered 23-03-2020 03:27 AM

Here's the range for 2020:

Grade GEO SEO
A 2.8-3.5 3.75-4.5
B 2.25-2.75 3-3.5
C+ 1.55-2.2 2.25-2.75
C 1.25-1.5 1.5-2.2
C- 0.5-1 0.5-1
D 0 0

When will we know the list of promotions for the year?

Unregistered 24-03-2020 05:42 PM

What do I need to prepare if I wish to apply for open posting?

Depends on your SLs. Most schools hold promotion ceremony in mid to late April.

There is a big difference between:

- you spent 4 years as a GEO3 before you got GEO4
- you got GEO4 in your 4th year of trained service

First one is average.

Second one is fast.

Unregistered 25-03-2020 03:15 PM

i am just a few bucks away from the ceiling for 3 and i didnt get promoted. and i got a B for pb this yr

Unregistered 25-03-2020 03:17 PM

At least for me it is.
Bring home less than 2k/mth. 😵

So when I see those who are earning 2-3 times more than me complaining,
I get more demotivated.
Im just thrash in the school.

I’m also a Dip. Ed teacher. Don’t despair. This is how my career has been.
July 2009 - 2010: In my very first school at GEO2A1 (I think so)
2011: Promoted to GEO2A2

2012 - 2015: Maternity leave and extended NPL
June 2015: Came back at GEO2, another school (MOE changed the appointment scale and hence became a GEO2 according to pay scale)
Performance grade C, B, B+ for the 3 years

April 2018: Promoted to GEO 3
Performance grade C+, B+ for year 2018 and 2019

April 2020: Just received news of my promotion to GEO4.

No, I meant 4 years from BT to Geo 3. So total BT to Geo 5 is 7 years.

Seems like those in school already know about promotion. Does the news go to you direct or to SLs. What about HQ staff?

and i dont even know if my merit increment will be that of a B grade coz i am like 30+ dollars away from the max for geo 3.. HAIZ

Unregistered 25-03-2020 06:18 PM

Hello as a male pgde teacher, is it cfmed I will get promoted to geo3 this april after working for one year as a trained teacher?

Unregistered 25-03-2020 06:22 PM

For me, I joined in 2011, promoted to GEO3 in 2012.
Then went to HQ in 2015, and got promoted to GEO4 in 2016.
Posted from HQ back to school in 2018. Just got news about being promoted to GEO5.
Is this considered normal progression or fast?

Unregistered 25-03-2020 06:39 PM

Wonder if promotion ceremonies for geo5 & seo will still carry on with this covid-19 situation?

Unregistered 25-03-2020 07:59 PM

i was just informed of my promotion :)

a little mixed feelings though, because i would basically have exceeded the max of my salary scale after this year’s increment. so it this a “JIT” promotion?

i know when i compare with my batch mates i’m probably the last to get promoted.

Looks like the criteria is two Bs and above to be promoted?

A few Bs in initial years, got a C in 2014 before HQ stint (due to P being upset about people leaving and bearing a grudge). And 2C+ and 1 C in HQ. In current school, so far has been 2 Bs.

Nice. Looks like 2 consecutive Bs will get u promoted.

Is it harder to get a good grade in HQ?
