if you cannot even be bothered taking the initiative to look through this forum for the answer, i think you should just stay at your current job and not apply to teaching.

Looking to understand the role of the VP (admin).
What are the KPIs, typical challenges, required experience and pay scale of a VP(admin)?
Appreciate your inputs and TIA.

Becoming a VP(Admin) is via a different route. VPAs are not education officers (EOs), they are rarely if ever ex-teachers. They usually come from the private sector or other areas of Govt, and are on the MX scheme of service. On average they draw about the same pay as a HOD, but it seems to vary wildly as some are very experienced and can be drawing far more. You will require usually >5 years of management experience, the most valuable kind being those dealing with $$$ and accounts.

KPIs are really typical administrative stuff. The General Office staff, technical staff, OSOs, OM, etc will report directly or indirectly to you. These folks will help you look after day to day operations, but your main area of purview is finance. You will ensure that finance-related procedures are adhered to and the budgets and books are kept in order. Of course, this is a pain in the ass.

In 2018, I got C+ for PB.
Can I know if I will get the news for promotion in 2019?

Someone told me my C- will delay by 3 years means in 2021 will I get the news for promotion and be promoted. Is that true? I was still a BT then and was never promoted before.... Will it affect me so badly? I am going into my 5Th year in 2020. I really don't wish to get the news in 2021. Any way will I be able to quicken my promotion if it will really have to delay by 3 years?

Delay by 3 years only happened to those who get D in ranking, for your case, nothing to worry about, promotion in grade mostly decided by HQ side, All ROs will recommend their officers for promotion, only those who are strongly recommended and consistent in performance will promote faster. By 5th year you should be promoted if you are a female teacher, while male who had served NS will promote in 3rd year of service, mid career officers will get 1st promotion within 2 years of service, you should get your 1st promotion in grade by 5th year, worse case scenario is when there are many officers perform better than you, then you will be promoted in October instead of April.

Your Ro or SL cannot give a definite answer as promotion in grade as it is determined by HQ. As long as you don't get D grade and have normal CEP (potential). There is no reason that HQ will delay your promotion.

Default cep is GEO 5 unless you have proven to others that you are better than this.

Direct hire

Does anyone know anything about the remuneration package, ranking exercise direct hire from independent schools and specialised schools? The Teachers are direct hires by the school and their strength do not belong to MOE. Are their pay similar as MOE Teachers?

Direct hires from the cream of the crop independent schools command about 20% more. Other independent schools not so certain.

I hv just been accepted into pgde which due to begin next year.
Bachelor degree in unrelated field. No honours. Female.
Mid career, have worked for more than 15 yrs in IT.
Hv been offered $4340.

From this thread, I realise that this offer is top of the scale for untrained tch.
Does this mean I might hit the top of scale of the next grade when I graduate frm pgde?
If I hv hit the top scale, during my bond, what if I am perceived as a underperformer? Will I be at risk to be asked to end my bond?

Appreciate any advice for this newbie. Thks.
