if one of my family members (not immediate) has a criminal record, would that disqualify me from clearing the security check for clearance?

3 weeks for me. Then the hr called and asked me to come down to sign contract

Hi, do you mean after HR contact you to submit doc, 3 weeks later you passed the G50 clearance or HR done with assessing your compensation package and offer you?
