Ministry tends to have MX Schemes, but DXO can be also hires at MINDEF.

Cant share the answer, my best bet is for you to clarify with HR when you are selected. Since the selection process is so tedious and not easily being offered, no point guessing it is MX or DX, it doesnt even matter when you are not selected..

Likely DXO paygrade for SID.... Its not the usual MX scheme for SID. Other people can chip in to verify.

SID is management exec scheme and not DXO. Stop confusing people.

Unregistered 14-12-2021 11:17 AM

Took my onsite test on 27 August, followed by the psychometric test afterwards.

Received the rejection today after 4 months, can finally consider case closed.

Good luck to those who are moving forward to SID!

Somewhat right to say that, but does it even matter what scheme it is?
You still get paid right?

Unregistered 15-12-2021 10:57 PM

IO scheme, for those who know. :o

Erm, its close, but its a little different.

Unregistered 17-12-2021 11:20 PM

how long security vetting takes after interview?

Unregistered 20-12-2021 07:45 AM

I read that it could be around 2 to 3 months.

So I guess the whole application process for MINDEF could be 6 months from date of application to contract signing :(

This is about right, looking at first assessment for those whom went for SID test.
Security assessment should be about 1-2 months.

But overall timeline is around 4-6 months , for expectation on the first assessment as a starting point. So for those take at July for example, you can expect Jan thereabout for your answer.

For those in August, maybe in Feb.

And yes, it is difficult , in fact very difficult to get in. It is easy to get out, but what you gonna do outside as the skills transfer might not be very relevant and there are things you cannot share as you had signed some documents.

DYDD, choose wisely when offered, try to ask for a higher pay.

IMO if you do get offered in SID, better think very carefully about the package they are offering, especially the salary. This is even more critical for fresh school leavers without prior working experience. Reason I'm saying is that once you get in, and if the work and conditions/environment eventually start to beat/wear you down, at least a good salary will motivate and keep you going. The risk is once you leave, you might not have alot of transferable skills that will make you attractive to employers outside. Considering the nature of this employment, likely you won't have alot of bargaining chips, unless you are a highly prized asset to the organisation due to some highly specialised knowledge/skills, etc. So think over and over again, look carefully at the compensation package, before you sign, especially for those without prior work experience to back you up, this could be a sure way to mess the rest of your life up should you find dissatisfaction later on.

It has been 2.5 months after the interview without hearing anything for me, should I just be waiting for the rejection email?

Unregistered 21-12-2021 05:22 PM

I messaged the HR to asked for an update, maybe you can try the same?

Unregistered 22-12-2021 08:32 AM

Received rejection email yesterday, attended the interview last month

Generally if you had only taken tests and no interviews, and been waiting for a month or more since your last test, very high chance you are already in rejection pool and sitting there till eventually new hires are confirmed and you will then be purged from the list and receive rejection notification. But if you had attended and cleared interviews, you might be waiting for security vetting/clearance which may take up to 3months.

Once you get in, better stay in and don't try to leave. Coz once you come out, might be difficult to get other jobs coz likely alot of questions will be asked by prospective employers as to the reason why you left. They will be naturally be inclined to think that the reason is probably due to work performance or discipline issues.

Unregistered 22-12-2021 09:20 AM

Can I get advice on how the application process for MINDEF is like now?

Read some posts previously it was:
1. Psychometric test
2. Interview
3. Unit preview
4. Medical and security screening
5. Offer

Is it still the same?

Sounds like it can turn out to be either a lifelong career or a life sentence.. Guess that depends on how well one plays 'the game' and luck plays a role too!

Very likely due to headcount still not filled up and still have interviewed candidates pending security clearance.

Anyone who left and rejoin can share your experience?

Unregistered 22-12-2021 09:32 PM

would also like to hear from the experiences of those who tried finding jobs in the private sector after some time in SID!

Should be somewhat the same, for Unit Preview, due to COVID might not be possible, not sure about that. Interview there likely be 2-4 interviews depending on role and seniority.

1.4 to 1.9 , it is pretty true to assume first year you tend to get a lousier grade but shouldnt affect the newbie that much as it is pro-rated.
