I see the local university IGP for accountancy drop over the years and feel like it’s a sign this industry is losing favor among the kids these days

Last time back in 2008 to 2011 was one of the hardest courses to get into man aside from Law and Medicine.

I don’t know a single person who stayed until SM30. That would mean you eventually have to work for younger people than you… can you accept?

At most got SM7 or SM8… by the way these are just “fake” ranks… the real rank is just SM3 but stuck there lol.

In reality if you realise you not making partner, you can start looking for better hours or pay or life outside depending what you want.

It would take a really enthusiastic and driven batch of seniors to drive in any big changes in culture.

Senior pay how much only? Why don't ask jiakliaobee partner and SM to change culture instead?

Associates don’t work directly with Partner or SMS

It is the seniors that get to decide what time we knock off, report for work, our tasks, our appraisal etc hence they are most important to our experience and day to day live.

Now BCC can go in already. The whole industry is run by greedy boomer and Gen X partners who only want to squeeze people. Like that who want to join? They import tongkat Ali people to depress your salary and create SQP to pwn you. So your whole life is either work or study. Like that I study accounting for ****? Graduate already still have to OT so much and study and the pay is pathetic.

There is a misalignment in expectation

You are thinking “graduate ALREADY, still must…”

Whereas to them, graduate is just a beginning hatchling

“JUST graduate only, of course must…”
