Oh no so I have
1. Start young. 2. Learn multiple programming langue instead of multilingual Chinese English malay hindi etc. 3. I need to attend coding sessions instead of tuition... 4. Join hackaton and coding competition... 5. Start career. 6. Start Instagram popularity. 7. Start tik tok. 8. Write tech article in medium. What else? Seems like a very hard life to be in tech. |

I felt a bit confused with some fresh grad with the same position get rsu? some don't? Did they told you rsu could/will be given after the performance review (which is in Dec-Jan)? I would appreciate if anybody is in the same position as me or could answer my question. |

. All this overpaid software developer 7 to 8k is work 24/7. So their net worth is actual half. So they are actually around 3.5k normal working hours people. Kinda stupid. |

Company cannot make you leave or make you stay after work. 6pm bravely walk out the door. If you're willing to work for free for company at your personal time. Go ahead. When you're sick... You go to clinic to see doctor. Doctor close at 9pm. You go bang the doctor door at 905 pm. Doctor don't open the door. That's work life. Balance. Come back tomorrow he said. Or go to the hospital A&E. Work life balance is like going to a gym and have 6 pack. Everyone can be muscly and 6 pack abs. But only a handful people in this world have. Why? They have the discipline to work their body. Likewise if you lack the balls and guts to champion work life balance for yourself. Go ahead. I won't be wishing "if only I stayed back at work just 1 more hour" when I'm dying in the hospital bed. |

Factory worker. Shift worker. Hawker center. Security guard etc. Why? Cause the hours already so long. Still want to stay longer.... Not paid enough. Those who don't have work life balance are usually those overpaid and feel guilty can't finish the work. Imagine being paid 7k and can't produce the work. Compared that to 2.6k chef assistant... Time to go home. Go. Home. |

envy fresh grad salary nowadays
Me computing grad 5 years ago just reach 7.5k |
Funny people are saying oil is dying. When I look at my bonus payout I feel shiok, which I'm sure is more than what others taking 1-2mths or none at all can say.

I just watched the above video. The person in the video, who was working in Paypal Singapore, was saying fresh grad can expect 70k/annual salary in Singapore. Mid 100k/annual, 5 years experience 120k/annual and bank 150k/annual. As a recent comp science fresh grad from local uni, my current salary is no where near 70k. Any advise how can I reach 100-120k/annual faster? I think I would need at least 10-15 years to reach there. |

Comp sci is a trap man. High starting pay but low progression, many actually stuck in the same role and their salaries in 10 years is really low compared to equivalent in a non-comp role
|
Yea agreed, some more there is gonna be more competition and supply of fresh grads which will bring the starting pay down also.

I think for comp science grad 200k is pretty reasonable target in 10 years. There are plenty of opportunities from investment bank, big tech, startup. |
