Still hiring local because Singapore law dictates 1 foreigner for every 5 Singaporean

20% rules. You guys didn't know meh?
This is what is called favoritism.

Shopee is a loss making arm of SEA. All other ecommerce competitiors are making profits lmao. They're being subsidized by other profitable arms of SEA Ltd.

Shopee booked an 800mil operating loss last FY. In a pandemic world when everyone's online shopping, no less.

Or are u the kind of dumb guillible fresh grad who reads abt Shopee fancy office on some stupid trash site like vulcanpost or goodyfeed n think that they're earning boatloads of profit??

The company confirmed that it cancelled some tech roles. “Due to adjustments to hiring plans on some tech teams, a number of roles at Shopee are no longer available. We are working closely to support those affected,” Sea said in a statement.

Singaporeans should boycott foreign e commerce apps like Lazada and Ali express and support Shopee, Singapore's pride and joy.

A spokesperson for Sea told Reuters the company had "made some changes to improve efficiency in our operations that impact a number of roles", saying it would focus on the "long-term strength of our ecosystem".

If not for the recent influx of Shopee layoff or rescinding news, SEa would have quietly done layoffs hoping people wouldn't notice. Good that news outlets are calling them out.

The era of frivolous tech hiring of cmi devs and profligate spending is over.

Employees were told staff numbers at its gaming live stream business and its development arm would be cut, sources said.

Sea Labs, the tech conglomerate's development arm, was shutting some of its biggest experimental projects and cutting staff, including blockchain and public cloud projects, the source said.
