Lead is Grade J, the reason of why minimum 5 years is for grade G if you cannot make it for J, HR can still offer u G..

J = MX10 upper - SAD/DD
K = MX9 - D

This guideline a bit loose.
I was G, but mapped to MX12

What is your current role & salary?

Unregistered 12-12-2021 12:02 PM

How big exactly is the pay range within a grade?

I am grade G (3YOE) currently drawing 7.8k.

Wondering how hard is it to jump to the next grade.

wow. you must be godlike to make grade G in just 3 years

i made grade H with 5YOE, 8.4k, but i'm the youngest by far. most people only make it to H after 7 years.

Hence my question earlier regarding the pay range. Seems like it's rather broad range.

I actually took a pay cut though to join, was drawing 8.4k previously at a less-than-desirable MNC, and HR told me that was a little high and unable to match.

But since there's 13mths min, I decided to accept it the offer.

SWE vs PM are 2 different tracks and u already got a 30% - 40% jump isn't it?

in a norm, a person who came in as Grade D will need to take at least 5 years to promote to H... meaning promoting every year while the standard norm will be at least 2 appraisal cycles or a minimum of 2 years...

it also highly dependant on the last drawn to determine the grades too..

Are you saying, one year promote one year is an exception rather than the norm? And that normally it's 2 years then promote one time?

Omgosh... even for D-> E -> F? These are more junior levels right? What will you recommend a junior like me to do if I want to promote faster?

Unregistered 13-12-2021 12:39 AM

If your are talking about cap center, juniors possibly promote every year… G-H too… but after that u will stagnant, Grade I is the first RO Grade…

Imagine GDS have only 300-400 (engineers, UX, DM) people…the ratio of juniors, main stay, lead, n mgmt are all well defined… not to mention the spread of tribe too..

to be fair, only CAP Center and is only max 400+ vs SVC 1.6k staffs most of the juniors in Cap Center... except MOM and MOE....

SVC usually don take anybody lower than Grade G, but now starting to take Grade E/F for BA cos lack of people..

so to be fair, lower grade promotions are sure faster vs those G & H ma....

for example 50 D fighting to promote vs 500 Grade G fighting to promote...

At the junior grades D > E > F > G, time norm to promote is 1 year. If you don't get promoted even after 2 years, you are behind the time norm (aka below average performer) and you should be looking for a new job to avoid stagnating.
