Its not based on years. It's by quota.
Most of the time they hire E5 or E6 to do the work la.
M1 and M2 is reserved for long timers.

Many worked for like 10 years still not promoted.
Then they just order you here and there to do this and that.

Those new hire M1 and M2 has no power. It's controlled by the division.
Alot of senior managers all sabotage each other.

Like how one senior manager can hire 5 people under him cause he have connection with the boss.
Then how one new senior manager can only hire 1 cause no budget. Then end up the E6 do all the work

that's because you are not a new hire. i have colleagues that joined as a E5 in 2006-2009 with a basic salary of 2.4k-2.8k. After 15 years of 2-4% increment and 3 or 4 promotions from E5 to E6 to M1 to M2, they end up with a basic salary of around 5.2k - 6k. But this year new hire M1 join with 7k-7.5k basic salary, new hire M2 join with 7.5k - 8.5k basic salary.

Not a good company to stay long term. Below market rate. Better to join CS/PS

Those staying salary lower than new hire but HR cannot and won’t even dare to match salary, how to compete even with outside. Heard that one more round of throw letter after July increment.

Unregistered 07-08-2022 05:29 PM

No wonder people are leaving, salary don’t dare to match yet new hire pay is much more than old birds, who will stay? Not like they cannot offered to match, or those money is parachute, those old bird at lower at E5-E6 either suck thumb or leave.

don't be surprise that there are also many who are easily contended & comfortable type (have a job, low enough salary to sustain their daily life). They are not ambitious and don't chase after the $$.

I hv 9yrs+ of hands-on technical skill set. No finance/budgeting experiences, nvr done any delegation of work or postman job before. That's why I was wondering if this is a good opportunity to move up to get more management skill exposures.
From what I understand, I will have to attend to many stakeholders.

Good at eating snakes.
Good at "very busy".
Good at "I promise to look into it without looking into it".
Good at asking other people to do your work for you.
Good at being promoted for no reason other than there is a reorg and boss likes you..

This company is a joke.
So my team is a software R&D supposed to innovate the business through use of machine learning, data analytics, algorithm, AI.

So we need to hire people with skillset in this area.
We can't seem to hire any.

So HR just sent one applicant with some resume that he have taken some analytics online course.
told my boss this candidate doesn't any relevant skillset.

Boss say give people chance. I told him I won't be available for interview.
Boss hired him.

2 weeks already.
This new guy totally not software trained. His past job also don't have any software backround.
So I ask the new guy how is he going to contribute to the team?

He said during the interview, the boss said the role is more on managing....

I. M. G.

SURE SO WE HIRE A E5 to manage us ah?
Our milestone is a viable software solution to solve a real world problem.

And the management solution is here I hire you a skillless nobody to help manage your work..

What a joke this company.
Where are all the data analytics. Data scientist? Big data analyst guru?
