honestly i was surprised that i could last this long. i guess it helpdd that i did not ‘chiong’ early on and avoided burntouts. of course my responsibilities and workload increased substantially with the pay rise across the years, but the ‘gradual’ and (slow?) ‘progression’ allows me to have some sort of work life balance.

probably gonna hit my GEO5 cap of 8.2k in a few years. once ‘work’ feels less purposeful or meaningful, will probably go for secondment.

Secondment will have salary increment / adjustment?

If MOE staff join another ministry during year end, how will the March PB be like? how about salary, if any idea?

Unregistered 14-10-2023 12:58 PM

seems like a lot of MOE teachers want to get out?

Thank you.

Saw a few similar posts for MX13 across this and the other civil service thread. I assume you are considering a move into civil service because your salary range will be made known once you receive your salary letter.

I understand pay is definitely an important consideration when choosing a job but I suggest not to be overly fixated by it. The civil service has a very structured pay regime in place, there is a formula to calculate how much a person gets based on education, experience, parity to other civil servants, and other factors, and as such there isn't really any room for negotiation. So, secure the offer, and then decide if you want it.

Hi, just joining a ministry here. FCH, NS, 25 y/o. MX13 with salary of 4.6k starting. Would like to know if there is a pay increment when I eventually hit MX12 and usually by how much? I am around $600 under the salary cap for MX13 and i’m not sure if that affects the increment levels.

That's quite an impressive starting salary for a fresh grad. Congrats!

You will get promotion increment and also merit increment which depends on your performance grade.

Are you in a tech/finance role?

Most ministries 'promote' you to MX12 after one year, so you'll get a slightly higher annual increment compared with a typical year. Should be around $250.

Yeah something related to finance. Thank you! Non-scholar here so I’m hoping the career progression isn’t too stunted. I’m happy as long as i’m somewhere stable so I can plan for long term finances etc. Hopefully someday I can make ~8-9k. P sure the number of people who hit 10k is really low
