You are the biggest loser I've EVER seen online. Forever putting a negative spin on even the most positive things for years. And you yourself are likely still living off your parents and spending all your days on the Internet instead of working. Trying to justify your loserness by making everything sound hopeless? It actually isn't as hopeless out there as you say.

There are hopeless situations, but not all are. And then there are hopeless people, like you. It's easy to see through your persistent attempts to justify your own uselessness by blaming everything out there but your own drive. Try harder.

Well, i worked for a few months after my graduation. However, few months in, i dislike the deskbound environment. So i quit. Wanted to find other similar job but whats the point. Its just gonna have the same outcome. So i took a course and planning to continue working other field after the course ended.

Had been jobless and took the sgunited midway career switch. It is damn useless la. Idk why the gahmen keep championing it. Even those retrenched pmet have to get a huge salary cut in order to get re-employed and kowtow to millennials, who probably earn more than me coz they are young

Bear in mind, when u r in your 40s, u r out of the economy already. U r tardy, slow and probably expensive. Still wanna mid career switch? Wake up from your Singaporean dream pls

Then you tell me what's the alternative la...kpkb so much

Your previous career is already gone. You can either 1) try another employer in your field, 2) choose to undetake a career switch with a paycut, 3) be a grab/food panda guy, 4) or remain unemployed.

The millenial is your boss cause he is zai. What's wrong with kowtowing to him? Your ego so fragile that you cannot accept a millenial boss?

This is the reality of the world. You kpkb also no use. No one owes you a living. The govt tries to create a pathway for people like you to see if there is another career alternative for you. Paycut is for sure. But in the long-run, perhaps you can still suceed if you try hard enough.

No one can guarantee you will do well. It's on you to have a flexible mindset and be open to re-skilling and re-learning. I got 40+ year-old friends who managed to transition into IT as business analysts after taking courses. Sure, they got a paycut. But they are actually doing well now; some have also been promoted to do larger projects in well-known companies.

It's generally better to find a job while employed.

This is because you have better negotiation power with any would-be employer.

Otherwise, they will low-ball you because they know you don't have any alternative.

Also, the longer you are out of work, the less your previous work experience will count.

So, it can become an issue for you.

U took the money and now tell us useless? If you so smart and capable, why not return the money then? Why did you even need it in the 1st place?

In fact, the program give you the opportunity to show your worth to the company you are attached to. It is an opportunity, not an entitlement to iron rice bowl. You need to work on your mindset. Negative people are just wasting the opportunity because they think it is their entitlement

Ya. In your 40s should focus more on health and well being. Whatever robust dreams in your younger years are either fulfilled or still dreaming away but must be realistic.

I am in my mid 40s, though currently still employed but more relaxed and not so worried about retrenchment cos no commitment, no debts no kids even though I am married.

The last thing you worry is get into medical debt so take care of your health really. One health bill can wipe out more than half of your savings.

In your 40s still not out of the economy. My company currently hired someone in her 50s and you see even those in 50s still can job hop. So there is always good news. Whether you want to be optimistic or grumble whole day is your choice. The government incentives may not work for some but it definitely work for some other ppl who are positive towards the approach. I understand it is really frustrating to see help coming your way but it is an unhelpful help. It is alright to rant in forums. No problem. Be sure to continue searching and make adjustments to your expectations. Once you are start rejoining the workforce, you will have other frustrations and stress.

Anyone simply sick of the 'Reference part' of the the employment Form ?
Like if you are just a quiet working person and don't really build rapport with your immediate boss, how to let that person be your reference check ?

Today is a blessed day. It is raining. Rain is a blessing.

As I look out the window, I feel blessed as I can afford to enjoy the morning, lying on my bed. I recalled my earlier days as a high flying corporate executive. Those days were crazy days, rushing early in the morning, stuck in traffic, rushing from one meeting to another, flying from one city to another, rain or shine.

But it was worth it as the hard work enables me to earn a fortune. I had plenty of cash to invest. My many years of investments paid off extremely well. I'm now happily retired, my passive income from investments easily sustains my family. They are enjoying a good life too - living in a nice condo, going overseas holidays, driven around in a car, enjoying good food at restaurants, etc.

As a multi millionaire, I'm still busy, busy managing and growing my wealth, busy pursuing the many interests I had no time for previously, busy taking good care of my family, busy spending time with my very old parents and busy volunteering at charities and non profit organisations. Life is more meaningful and fulfilling. I'm healthier and happier.

In life, you have to make tough choices. Choose the wrong career and you can be working all your life. There are people who did not enjoy a single day of retirement. They died before they retired. That's sad.

Choose the right high paying career, work hard, be the best in your field, invest well and become a multi millionaire. You can then afford to retire early and enjoy a full life.

Today is a awful day. It is sunny. Hot weather is a curse.

As I log on my computer and open up salary forum, I feel cursed having to read all these CSB posts. I recalled my earlier days where people had to register for accounts on forums and couldn't CSB or else they would get banned. Those days were awesome days, watching liars get banned, reading funny memes, going from one thread to another, posting meaningful discussion from one post to another, day or night.

But it was not worth it as I have spent a lot of time reading these garbage posts. I wasted so much time. My many years of wasted hours did not pay off. I'm now miserable, my bank account is near empty and I will probably be homeless one day. My family hates me too - probably living in a nice condo, going overseas holidays, driven around in a car, enjoying good food at restaurants, etc.

As a $100 in bank account loser, I'm still very salty, busy wasting my time reading these garbage CSB posts, busy getting all mad and pwning other sinkies and spending the rest of my days thinking of other unique ways to pwn more sinkies. Life is meaningless and depressing. I'm buibui and foreveralone.

In life, you have to make tough choices. Choose the wrong forum and you will spend your life reading lies. There are people who spend their life posting nonsense on here. They died before getting banned. That's sad.

Choose the right forum, make an account, post meaningful discussions, learn well and get some good information. You can then finally stop pwning other sinkies and lying online.

Stop going to trash forums like edmw and you will be fine. Losers there are just showing off their delusional 'profound knowledge'. Log off and they are still nobodies in the real world.

Get real and improve yourself in your softskills , hardskills or whatever that is useful in this real world.

Managed to get quite a good amount of interviews for the past 6 mths and the last 3 interviews being big mncs and a big local startup.... still no luck in getting a job.

coming to 3 years soon of being jobless. i guess it's the end for me already. Got forced to resign by my ex company in late 2018. Jobless for 6 mths until a company poached me and got hired, thinking I was 'saved'. Company turned out to be a hellhole that I've seen newcomers walk out of the office 2 hours after they joined. Left after 3 months and have been jobless since. I took up some freelance and part-time in between but the money is good enough for my meals for a few months.

i try not to update my situation to my close friends cos everytime they ask about it, they would say 'try another industry, don't always apply to the same kind of job'. When you tell them you have tried other industries, they tell you 'you never apply enough'. I'd rather not say anything cos they have a job, they don't know what it's like to be jobless.

Who is also in the same boat as me?

So sorry to read this. What exactly is it that you want. It is very rare for person to be jobless for more than 1 year. Are you picky, still dreaming, or you have a criminal background ? I don't really believe a person can be jobless for 3 years without holding a full time job. What about those retirees ? Why can they find jobs but not you? Something must be wrong with your side.

You must be honest. No point finding like minded forummers to make yourself feel slightly better. You have to keep applying until you land a decent one even if you are paid lesser. What choice do you have ?

Unregistered 21-03-2022 11:12 PM

well you are not alone. I worked in an office job for 3 months and found out that i hated the environment. With only a degree in electrical engineering, what are options for me?

For people who want to switch industry, try SGUnited Skills Program, there will be allowances while under training. Although the allowances are not much, you are being trained for free! Go try! But this is program is only one shot per SG citizen.

Not all people in 40s become tardy and slow like you. Let me give you an advice, you should play more Candy Crush to work on your brain power and motor co-ordination. Since you find SGUnited useless, maybe you can carve out a career in Esports......with enough practice of course.
