I was geo 4 by the 6th year of teaching...that was ard 6 years ago. Still waiting for my geo 5 :(

The current rate of promotions is laughable. Most of the newer teachers seem to be worse off than those who got their geo1A3 just before 2015, in terms of cumulative earnings in their first 5-8 years of their career.

To still be stuck at geo4 equivalent after 8 years, back in those days, was a sign that a teacher had attitude problem/disciplinary case history/spent most of their time teaching private tuition outside.

Nowadays you can be a decently good teacher with 10 years experience but still geo4. Joke.

In my 9th year of teaching.

Got my geo 4 in 2018 and geo 5 this year. Not sure which school you're at, but this seems normal in my jc. My cohort peers are either geo 4 or 5.

My RO did tell me that it is normal to wait between 7 and 10 years to reach geo5 nowadays for average performers.

Have you been getting Cs for annual grade? If you don't mind sharing...

How does that work though? If so many people get geo5 after 8yrs, doesn't it mean that there's a huge group stuck at geo 5 for the rest of their careers?

Most teachers won't proceed beyond geo5; that's the reality. Now with the merging schools, will have even lesser opportunities.
