Unfortunately, I'm not able to find my CONNECT statements prior to 2020, in order to be able to confirm whether I got any deposit during my practicum year. |

Could I ask for the 13 yrs, female, mid-career, GEO5A, 8.5k (increment 5 to 5A was only $200), how old is the lady and how many years of experience outside teaching does she have? |
Quote:
2. 1st year after practicum does qualify for CONNECT, it will just be pro-rated (from 1 Jan to 15 Nov) based on the days in service for that year as a full-time staff (not including practicum). So anyone who got posted to schools after practicum and worked for half a year, would have gotten a pro-rated amount of the payout for that year (Year 1). So technically you lost out on 1 year of payout. But I suggest you go into intranet and look through the eligibility information so that you understand how. |

But good job for confirming it via intranet. It's always good to have the most updated information, so that we can see how policies have changed from the past. |

Besides, scope of work is limited to being seen by only RO, it's worse that there's mistakes. Of course don't make any of the 3 big nonos. |

NUS FCH GEO3 male 8 years :( 6.2k |

She’s 48. Teaches two core subjects and contributes extensively to level and school wide curriculum for both subjects. Heads PLT in her first CS and a contributing member in her 2nd CS. Sits in two of the biggest committee in the school (CCE and student management) where she heads school wide events/programmes/projects. She is also in another third committee, publicity, where she does public engagement (Open House). I/C of CCA (SYF). She’s also an IM. Was a CCE and level coordinator until they realised she was holding too many roles. Duh! She would make a wonderful capable KP but she was never interested. She hit GEO5 ceiling five years after joining and was stuck at the ceiling until last year with the meagre $200 revision. |

The salary that you guys shared are the gross amounts?
I’m at 5.3k, 14 years in service. GEO4. Covering HOD, doing a lot a lot of work, and I’m just a Dip Ed. Some years ago I had wanted to do a degree in NIE but my then P said it will not help as the system has changed, and that there won’t be adjustments but it will be more performance based. That’s really sad. |

Maybe you clarify with your P again? Pay adjustments after emplacement from Dip Ed to Degree is still ongoing (just last year my school adjusted for one staff who completed her part time SUSS Music Education, the increase in pay was close to 1k). So emplacement from dip ed to a recognised degree, there will be a pay adjustment for sure. Your P could be referring to how the 'system' which recognises degree as better performers with better progression, has changed, and that both degree and dip are under GEO. But pay-wise, there will definitely be a bump when you are a degree holder. |
What’s the pay increment from GEO 5 to SEO 1? Is it a big bump up?

Can't compare to a mid-career though. I myself am a mid-career GEO5, 6 yrs, 8k. |

My parents are teachers, probably i will be joining them to be one too.
Which path would be better? I.e. advancement. Path 1: local uni science degree + nie post grad diploma Path 2: direct NIE science degree JC2 student |

Take path 2 if you are sponsored, its going to be extra cost since both road leads to rome. |

Told my nephew the same thing. He wanted to join teaching immediately after graduating. I told him not to. So he worked in private sector for 6 years then he applied for teaching. Compared him to the teacher (his friend) who graduated the same time he did but went straight into teaching, which means same number of years of working experience, he commands a higher salary just because he is a mid-career teacher. Got promoted quite fast too. |
