Hi all, am just hopping on this platform to gather some thoughts/opinions

Currently GEO3 and have been teaching for 5 years. I am so tired and jaded (which I believe all of us will experience at some point) hence I am seriously thinking about applying for No Pay Leave.

I’ve tried to look it up online but no to avail. Didn’t want to ask colleagues as I’m afraid of judgements placed on me.

I’m gonna use health reasons to apply for NPL - went thru surgery last year and may need to go thru it again this year. Stress is a contributing factor to my condition. Not sure if it’ll be accepted but I still wanna try.

Does anyone know what’s the procedure to apply? Am planning to take about 3-4months off work to travel around the world etc. Also, any advice on how I can reduce the jadedness in this career?

Many thanks fellow Teachers..

You know yourself better. If you need to take a break, please do.

In this line, there will be periods where you just want to stop everything. You can either talk to your RO about this and maybe take on lesser roles. You can also consider taking half load. As for NPL, usually you will have to get clearance from School Leaders.

Another scenario is to quit and join as FAJT/CAJT.

what some colleagues do when jaded is to apply for self funded studies...go do 1 year masters...same as no pay..but seen as career progression rather than a step back from career...anyway for singaporeans...masters in sg at nie/NTU/nus heavily subsidised...

Anyone knows how much lower?

Mine started earlier - Feb 2018. Vaguely recall an email last time (not too sure); but not recently.

Anyway, it seems you can opt out (or change the quantum) by logging into Pac@Gov.

Is it worth it to convert from secondary school teacher to primary school instead?

Seems like no change for A & B. But lower for the rest of us (really the majority). By maybe around 0.25 months? Don't really know how it'll work out.
