Human by nature recognize title more than your pay level, or we won't have king, queen, master, lord and peasant cast title.

Lol, just another guy going for BRAND.

When I wave goodbye to my friends from Big 4 and get into my car, it's one of those moments that are totally worth it. If working at a "branded big 4 firm" means I have to take a 50% pay cut, then I happily give up my spot to another guy who "deserves" the job more than me. I will enjoy my better lifestyle, working hours, and pay, they can enjoy their "elite big 4 title", ha ha.

the only people who are impress with big4 are either senior folks (during their time accountant was a prestigious occupation and big5 is like best u can ever go) or clerical/blue collar worker who dun have that much corp exposure.

2 things:

1) To be made partner eventually.
2) If not, to retire as a Senior Manager still drawing decent salary.

More like stability. How may people actually become partner?

big 4 is a stable option for business and accountancy students much like generic civil service positions are for Arts and social science students. its an iron rice bowl, they hire tons of them every annual intake and you get slow and steady progression up to a certain comfortable point.

Im 29, working as a AVP in a FO role in a BB firm.

just had a uni meet up at a friend's wedding dinner. when i hear my fellow acct grads saying they are now in a big 4 in their "assoc" role, telling me how stable their jobs are, how nice and secure their roles, no sacking blah blah blah, i smiled.

as we left the dinner, i passed the valet the parking slip for my SLK, while my "big4 folks" take the train home. (not a big deal anyway, since they take the train home after work at 1145pm, last train since they say they cant claim taxi).

i can attest to that.. quite common your managers will ask you to go at 1130 to take the train in order to avoid taxi claims after midnight.

May I confirm if big 4 really do not offer the 13th month bonus? Do they give high performance bonus in compensation?
