I know someone who got promoted from Senior accountant to regional FC in a US mnc in the span of 6 years. Why? Coz too many lazy cucks in commercial so they ace the competition and delivered every single time. And I doubt he is Singaporeans or at least not the born and bred coz i heard him speak fluent malay. Most people inc SPR and FT are doing it. Ho to audit tough it put for 3-4 years then switch to commercial.

You remind me of a hypocrite msian SM in yellow that I hate lol. Don’t join for the money, but join for quick progression to high level in commercial to get more money.🤡

I can only say that I met a lot of weirdos in this industry during my stay for 3 years. To them, working past midnight all year round including weekends, getting gaslighted by upper mgts, answering manager’s messages at 3am, sacrificing personal health and life is all normal. I know that audit life is bad when I first joined, but I didn’t expect it to be so bad. Just 3 short years is enough to wipe out my sanity. Will never forget myself having multiple panic attacks at 4am with 3 hours of sleep left before rushing to client’s place the next morning and getting yelled at by my sm for not putting more effort. Getting snide comments from my team when I fell ill during the peak period. Can’t even take one day off without my team spamming me calls asking work questions. Thanks god, I left. The moment I submitted my staff pass on my last day I cut them all off and siam the building.

They always say they are high performer, can lead, can do, can etcetc. But in my eyes they are all yes man who are expert at rolling prior year work papers. You ask them do one first year listed co and can stand back to see them tumble. Dunno what delusional pills are they on. If really so zai, why never join IB? Lol

did you have to take any course to get in or is it all on-the-job learning? how does audit skills help with AML?

seems like most entry level role requires experience or pays 3-4k. heard quite a bit about stagnant progression too, how true is that?

First year AML role pays more than 6k? Are you sure it's a legit gambling company and not some dodgy illegal online casino? MBS pays like crap after all.

ISCA is thrilled to be back in the Philippines!

We are pleased to announce that we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) to foster collaborations through training and professional development of accountants in the Philippines. This partnership will also elevate the accounting profession and contribute to the growth and success of businesses.

ISCA CEO, Fann Kor, did a presentation to the PICPA, highlighting recent developments in Singapore's accounting landscape and explored more potential initiatives between both institutes.

ISCA also appointed an Approved Learning Centre, Lope Laranjo Bato & Co. CPAs (an accredited CPD provider by the Board of Accountancy) in the Philippines to collaborate on ISCA's Sustainability certifications and conduct joint seminars to support accounting profession in the region.

One of the highlights of the trip was the members' recognition ceremony where we welcomed new members to the ISCA family!
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build bridges and create impactful partnerships across borders!

P/S: Happy belated birthday to Sir Abner Ty!

For MRA, there a possibility to take one IB exam
For RMA, there is no examination requirement

I think ISCA will eventually sign MRA with ACCA

Yes. If ISCA sign MRA instead of RMA with ACCA, then you have to take the SCAQ IBS 4.5 hours exam

Ok what better than 5 papers

I would say most commercial roles don’t have fixed pay grades for experienced hires unlike audit. In sg context, HR mostly relies on last drawn salary regardless your years of experience. Unless you’re a fresh grad straight out from uni, no HR is going to be hoping to actually hire someone by offering a 3-4k salary. My advice is to just put your resume out there and don’t limit yourself to just accounting/finance/fp&a roles.
