If one particular organisation does that then fine, its an outlier. But if the accounting industry in general is doing that then the problem is you, my friend. Are you pricing yourself out of the market or are you valuing the wrong skillset? For e.g. maybe excellent english skill isn't a top consideration for accouting jobs. Just the same as great creativity skills is not pivotal in a factory worker job or a masters degree is rarely the consideration for a sales based job like real estate agents. Besides companies usually have to pay more for foreigners due to S-Pass or EP requirements

JHK spotted

I still have plenty of annual leave so I'm fine with using them all up first but I really need a break from work. I'm hoping for a formal break instead of MC because I previously had to take 1 week MC due to a bad flu but I still had to work like normal due to multiple deadlines.

My senior took “unpaid leave” but still see him online doing work in the middle of the night. Paid/unpaid leave, you still have to do work one. And also, have you considered the chance of your promotion after peak?

I am not aiming for a promotion so it doesn't matter to me since don't want to do audit anymore.

What kind of unpaid leave did your senior take? Was it just a few days or weeks? Sounds scary that he still had to OT.

Sounds like Big 4 doesnt have an option for a sabbatical? Only can resign? I don't want the encashment and would rather just make use of my leave.

low barrier of entry, create more supply of these auditors from msia.
Of cus the pay gonna be driven down right?
S-pass or not, it doesn't really matter when the salary per month is low.

Most grads dont even go audit already. I think they know their worth. U should worry more about yourself.

just resign. my senior had to work while at his father's wake. another resigned because they refuse to approve his leave to attend bro's wedding just a few days after telling us to not miss out on once in a lifetime experiences over work. tbh the lack of jhk means we get this problem, ep go up also dont see them raising our pay.

I noticed that the seniors may be reluctant to mentor juniors.

Is this reluctance possibly attributed to the concern that mentoring could consume a significant amount of their time?

You have to understand that being a senior is the worst rank in the industry. You may think that your senior is purposely ignoring you when you teams them but let me tell you what’s going on. You are not the only one messaging them. 5 mins before you teams them, their managers and senior managers already start spamming them for status progress. 5 mins after you teams them, the client start spamming calls to clarify the associates’s ridiculous pbc. Of course they have to prioritize entertaining those big bosses before they get back to you what. Then, whole day ended up doing none of their work papers, then next day the cycles continues. Being a senior is jin kelian, associates kaobei us ignoring them, managers kaobei we dunno how to manage team progress, client kaobei we never vet through associates pbc.

Then why complain in the first place? Singaporeans don't want to do audit. Foreigners do. What's the issue? Some people like audit some people don't.

Yeah. And still manage to steal your lunch despite being a foreigner, have no local local market knowledge and a less stellar academic qualification and less than perfect english. Speaks volumes about you being unemployable, no?
