Is there any way for moderators to check if someone is just replying to themselves?

It’s like ownself say ownself happy ah?

Maybe moderators can check but public reader cannot.

So for all anyone knows, I could actually be the same person as you replying to my own question.

Yes, ownself say, ownself happy.

I'm from Tech, most of us are either full stack(Java/Go/Python) with cloud (k8s/aws certified/gcp/devops) or are ML analysts (image/text/data). These are the salary offered, will indicate it as a range.

GovTech (TAP): 5k to 6.5k (all previous interns)
GS(Tech): 6k to 7k (all previous interns)
Citi(Tech): 5k to 6k (all previous interns)
SME(Tech): 5k to 6k (all previous interns)
Shopee(Tech): 4.5k to 5.5k (all previous interns)

Honours wise, everyone in the list is at least a second upper. Majority are first class.

First class honours and second upper honours cannot secure good pay means either your own marketing suck or you needs help with your own career goals. Taking a lowball offer anywhere, moreso in an SME, is really chop carrot and your loss in terms of current and future pay.

So good luck have fun for second lower and third class honours and those without honours. As well not even bother since the disadvantage is big. Hope you have external industrial certifications (AWS, GCP, etc) that might make up for your lack of competency in your course.

How do you show that you are passionate if your grades don’t show it? Shouldn’t it also show in the grades also if you really were interested and passionate?

In all fairness, I think both grades and external certifications play a part in hiring. Anyone who has gone thru a CS/IS syllabus can tell you that there is so much more to learn outside of the school syllabus like cloud etc. I think the time of using simply your grades to get into the door is over. Employers will look beyond simply the qualifications provided but also at the entire package they are getting. But I have to agree based on my group of friends who are graduating that your honors still play a big part in determining your starting pay.

If a second lower/third wants to try pull a fast one to get in and secure the same pay, I suggest joining hackathons organized by the companies as a way to get noticed. But I'm interested to know which employer is openly hiring in spite of the honors.

I'm from UOL second upper, took a gap year and just got a job offer for $5.3k/month, starting work soon. Don't have past experience from prestigious company or whatever. I admit I am really lucky. But what I want to say to fellow private u grads is try not to follow the crowd, be smart when identifying the industry, be confident and know your stuff but don't smoke your way into the interview. I guess what got me the job Is my relevant internship experiences and I'm able to show that I have the skills required for the job.

Csb enjoy your 3.3k pay

Unregistered 23-10-2021 09:23 AM

Real MoM statistics.

I keep reading about 5.5K/mth. With 13mth AWS and no bonus puts you about 71k annually. Fresh grads are about this age 25-29. And this is the statistic.

Within the "25 - 29" age group, your gross monthly pay of $71,000
places you at the 99.1th++ percentile among both genders.
You are in the top 0.9% of your cohort.

Suddenly the top 1% of the entire age group in Singapore is in this thread LOL :D :D

Unregistered 23-10-2021 09:36 AM

Base on IRAS stats 18/19, it can't deviate too much from today.

Annual income of $43,200 is higher than 50.0% of all resident taxpayers.
Considering no AWS and 1 month bonus, 43200/13

Is approximately $3.3K a month
So if you are making 3.3K gross a month, you are in the median of all tax paying residents in singapore.

The CSB are plenty in this forum. And you are an idiot if you believed that without thinking.

Unregistered 23-10-2021 09:44 AM

My salary really is 5.5k a month…

Assuming 5500x12 +1mth bonus = 71.5k per year

Your annual income of $71,500
is higher than 73.1% of all resident taxpayers.
Congratulations. This means only about 3 out if 10 taxpaying residents are paid higher than you.

Unregistered 23-10-2021 10:29 AM

I believe the 5k / 5.5k because DBS SEED also pays 5k+ and anyone can get in

but look at the bigger picture

DBS SEED ( high monthly pay )
1. no pay bump / title promotion, it's a contract learning job
2. no stocks, no sign bonus, etc. only pay + variable annual pay.
3. no job safety after 2 years, conversion not guaranteed.

Other Tech ( moderate monthly pay )
1. pay bump every year, title bump every 2 years or 1 year half if you're good
2. obviously stocks, bonus, WFH reimbursements, unless you pick some garbage company
3. job safety, not possible to get fired unless your entire team gets re-orged and wiped which is really rare...

Unregistered 23-10-2021 10:37 AM

What is this seed thing about and why you suddenly talk about it?

Unregistered 23-10-2021 10:56 AM

Fact is majority of fresh grad pay is still the range compared to decade ago.

Exception applies to certain roles as such graduate programs.
