Lots of opportunities to lateral into the private sector.

At the junior level, they care that you have MAS experience, and an understanding of the way that MAS works, so you can definitely go from supervising banks to a hedge fund or an insurer and vice versa. At the more senior levels, this is slightly more difficult, and you would most likely have to go to a bank if you are supervising banks and do not want a lower rank.

Work can be very demanding in terms of your time, and you would mostly be a cog in the machine working on a very specific part of the entire supervision process unless you're in a few specific departments or the department that you're in happens to be very understaffed.

Do keep in mind that if you're going to an entity that you directly supervise, you would likely have a 6 month notice period.

Alot are contract cause the departments generally have no more spare headcount. Contract hire is a way to bypass the hiring freeze cause technically its not a perm headcount.

So back to your question, it depends on whether enough people leave within the department for them to drop below their headcount limit so that they will be able to hire a full time hire

More importantly you get to learn from the smartest bosses. Textbooks can be wrong but the bosses are always right!

Where else can staff who have never worked in a bank for 1 day, role-play as trading experts and tell bank traders how to trade!

You mean the current HR Boss? She is a really, really nice person. Probably one of the NICEST person in MAS. I will definitely want to work for her!
