Those who left are the middle management or lower level?

Those who are left either (i) happy to float (ii) waiting for bonus to quit (iii) waiting for something to add to CV or (iv) already looking for a move.

Good luck if you wanna join.

Yeah if you are not a mas scholar, it’s going to be difficult to rise

Unregistered 12-11-2021 02:24 PM

Unregistered 14-11-2021 01:29 PM

Can i ask for someone who failed to clear G-50 during NS times, will his/her career progression be affected in MAS? I suppose higher levels require higher security clearance?

Unregistered 15-11-2021 11:52 AM

Working hours can be relatively long, depending on the portfolio assigned to u.

Typical 9 to 6 type of govt job. Whether need to OT or not depends on whether you wanna chiong. Once confirmed perm staff, even if you wanna slack also nobody will complain - just that you need to be aware performance grade might be below those who decide to chiong.

Unregistered 19-11-2021 10:30 PM

How many rounds of interview are there for a typical role in MAS?

April. You will know when you get your bonus letter in April unless your managers tell you beforehand.

Unregistered 22-11-2021 06:09 PM

What's the MX grade for a DD position in MAS? I know their title doesn't match the real job scope of a DD level in another agency.

Before that there wont be any year-end appraisal sessions with your in-charge where he/she will let u know if you are getting promotion? Thats very diff from pte sector where one usually know a couple of months in advance. Thanks anyway.

You can ask your supervisor/RO. If they are not willing to say, usually that means it's a no and you should start applying for new jobs.

Unregistered 23-11-2021 11:23 AM

How long does it takes to promote from 1 grade to another? Any real-life example of mid joiners promoting within 1 or 2 years? Say from 12 to 11 and 11 to 10?

You can try to ask your boss. A colleague told me that his div head told him that he will be promoted to DD next year. He joined last year Aug as AD. His div head and himself have left MAS.

Another colleague also joined last year as AD. But this colleague's div head didn't tell him about promotion during his first year appraisal

Yes. Very few will promote within 1 or 2 years. My division, in IT Dept, has one lady promoted from AD to DD in two years. Morale of story is div head like this staff. Div Head thought this staff know lots of things. But this staff know how to act well. Actually this staff at the back ask a lot of help from others. She has been going on leave without apply leave in system. Before we start work from home arrangement, she will tea break very long with others when div head not in office. Wonder div head is aware of her behaviour or not. Promote this kind of person to DD. Div Head's eyes got stamp.

while the rest work so hard and have been in MAS for so many years, still stuck as AD

You first colleague left barely after 1 year? Even though he is getting promotion next apr? Either push factor too hard or another offer is too attractive.

Yes. He left after he reached one year anniversary. The push factor is very strong. He felt that his scope of work is not well defined as he was doing a lot of diff things

Mind sharing which department?

Unregistered 24-11-2021 09:22 AM

Is there any tenure requirement (or any requirement at all) to be met if one would like to take sabbatical or day-offs to pursue part time post-grad? I am not referring to grad sponsorship. Just normal taking day-offs to pursue self-funded post-grad.

Is it up one the individual to discuss with the head to work out a time schedule?

Appreciate if someone from the inside can advise.

You ask your boss/supervisor whether you can start work earlier or end work later on other days?
i m now in MAS. I attended self-funded master course while i was working in another stat board. My boss agree to let me go off earlier on those days when I have lesson. However, i will report work earlier. Meaning my working hours adjusted to one or two hours earlier.

Quite a number of departments having this issue. a few colleagues left because they keep receiving work which is not supposed to be in their scope.
