I will have extra 6.6k annually if i join pccw.

I emailed pccw hr to enquire on how PB is given & will there be yearly increment. Waiting for reply.
But my ex-senior colleague told me to aim for a company that can improve my skillset.
Now i dilemma

Dont bother pccw. hr suck, everyone suck.

Before join say after 1 year convert perm, annual increment etc, got this got that.

Every single month my payroll got problem. Mobile claim not in, pay delay, cpf didnt credit in. Without fail for every month sure have either one missing from salary. This is the first job i do every month have to check if CPF is credit in.

Join and after nearly a year say my g50 fail to clear, yet the site have nearly 20 south east asia staff and still have new south east asia ppl coming in.

Immediate termination without paying me my leave encash and termination notice etc.

I go to mom and after a few session than agree to pay off my leave encashment.

Join at your on risk.

Job grade

Hi Guys,

I am second class IT fresh grad from NUS and recently got the opportunity to join NCS. The offer stated that grade P1S1.

I know P1 is lowest grade by looking through this topic . What does it mean?

I am getting 4k plus for the job grade .Is that normal rate?

S could stand for Specialist, depending on what role he or she has gotten.
4kplus could mean 4k-4.9k….

First year is probably for you to learn more, probably don’t be given too much workload since you’re still unproven.. Role/ can be very diverse, infra consists of network, systems, cloud, that being said there are sub tracks.

Work life balance also dependant on projects that you’re assigned.

What is the job scope of data migration application engineer in NCS? Is this a shift role or regular hour role in NCS?

I have been offered a contract position (App Consultant ) at Nucleus under 3rd party agency.
HR said can covert perm later.

Is it true? anyone convert before from contract to perm at NCS? how long does it take normally?

What's differences between perm and contract at NCS?

Thanks guys ahead for answering.

Why don't you apply to NCS directly? 3rd party agency sucks, and you're the first to go when **** hits the fan.

I am a FT dude. NCS HR doesn't care when I apply directly. Most FTs can get interview if we go via agencies.

Really don't know if NCS discriminate Contract staff and perm, Please advise.

Anyone here is a desktop engineer? What are the flags I need to look out for particularly for a contract staff.

Thank you.

Hi guys, I was offered a Software Engineer position under the Nucleus programme. I'm wondering if it is worth to take up this offer considering some people (in this forum and on Glassdoor) have mentioned the working culture in NCS might not be good. I'll have to stay for at least 5 years if I want to get the sponsored Masters and make the most out of the programme.

Can any seniors provide some insights into working culture and prospects in NCS? Thanks in advance!

How much are you offered?

Work culture dependant on projects, your colleagues etc.
NCS will send you also send you for courses during this 5 years.

I think more importantly is how fast can you get promoted during this 5 years? Since the increment is not high. So many will leave to get a better paying job after 2 years.

I was offered 5k, no 13th month. So I guess work culture really depends on luck? It would be pretty bad to be allocated a project team with poor work culture and be stuck there...

But there will be opportunities to rotate to other teams after maybe a year or two right? Or would it be difficult given some projects can require very different skillsets?

Woah that's a lot compared to ours. Are you an experienced hire with a local U cert?
Yes, you cant choose the projects assigned to you.

Uhh no I’m graduating next year from NTU. Perhaps they look at the class of honours too?

Are the increments in NCS really bad? Doesn’t seem right that they’re offering fresh grads more than experienced seniors.

I’ve seen Glassdoor reviews where they say the company cares more about attracting fresh grads to the company than retaining existing employees. Are existing employees not valued by the company? :(

Perhaps, I not sure how HR actually does the tabulation. I believe your degree is com science to get that offer?
Yes they are paying more under nucleus program.

Increment 1-3% depends on your performance appraisal.

Sorry to say that’s true, the company doesn’t do any salary adjustment to bridge the gap. So longer your stay, the newer batch in few years time gets more than you, rinse and repeat. Thus, people leave. Am sure it’s happening not just in NCS per say. Hmm that’s a really good question, am sure there are some who are “valued” but most of course not.

Uhm not com sci but materials engineering, though I do have coding experience.

I guess if I do want to stay to get the Masters then I should be prepared to receive sad increment…

Also, thanks so much for sharing! Really appreciate it :)

I think as a fresh grad, learning and garnering experience is also important than just looking at increments alone. I think 5k for a start is already pretty decent, not sure if you are the outlier there. most of us are getting low 4s. You are free to leave within 5 years too.

Unregistered 01-11-2021 06:55 AM

Local NTU fresh grad, joined ncs abt 5 year ago. Current post is senior analyst getting around 5k. Pay getting stagnant. Junior fresh grad all getting 4-4.5 but still expect me to babysit and carry them while managing multiple client. Boss lead throws smoke and just anyhow delegate work to us. Don’t even have time to attend courses and self improvement. Time to move on ???

The guy previously posted will be getting 5k when he/she joins. hmmmm
Seems like you’re assigned more work than you can manage because you are capable.
Unfortunate that You probably didn’t get much baby sitting when you first joined,
Well that sucks. If you feel that a promotion is coming for you soon then stay, get promoted then leave. Else just start looking out.

Don’t quote me, but I feel it’s better than other departments for sure. Maybe better and more exciting projects. I think work-life balance is still dependant on team culture/project

hi, I'm interested in the NCS Nucleus programme but looking to apply for the NEXT Data & Analytics consultant position. I have a few questions, mainly

1. What is special about NEXT? Heard it come up a few times in this thread.
2. Didn't come across anyone mentioning this consultancy role throughout the thread, rather more software engineering. What can I expect the pay and benefits like?
3. Anyone able to share if there's any work-life balance? How does a day sound like in this role? Where is the work location?
4. Consultancy sounds like a client-facing job... are there more diverse roles within the programme such as data science or more technical jobs?

thanks in advance...
