I'm taking this to mean that they are perm roles if I can meet the performance. |

Stat Board vs Ministry? Hi, sorry this is not directly related to salary matters, but - for those who have chosen a Stat Board over a Ministry before when offered both, may I know what was your thought process behind the decision? I was given a verbal offer from a stat board (strategic planning) as well as its parent ministry (policy) and am in the middle of deciding which one to accept. Putting aside personal interest and salary/benefits, what are some other things I may wish to consider? Is it easier to jump from stat boards to ministries or ministries to stat boards? How about pivoting to agencies in other industries? Any inputs or thoughts would be greatly appreciated as this is my first PS/CS role. Thanks! Background: Local uni grad, non-scholar, a few years work experience in a govt-affiliated organisation (not PS/CS). |

Unregistered | Perm or not shouldn't really matter unless you intend to spend your entire 40 year career in the same job.

Unregistered | Heard that ministries tend to pay less than stat boards. Is that generally true?

1) your CEP will be different. cant rmb what CEP stands for, think Career Estimated Potential or smth liddat. diploma CEP at most MX12. with degree, your CEP at least MX11A or MX10. basically in short, CEP means the final rank that you will achieve/hit before u retire. 2) with degree, your salary increment will be in the few hundreds per year n promotion will be much faster. with diploma, your salary increment ranges from $80 to $150 per year. |

May I check if I joined a ministry as MX12 with 10 yrs experience (for example) with a diploma versus degree, is there any difference in starting salary, yearly increment, promotion time line. Thanks |

Unregistered | I think maybe ultimately still depends on which ministry/stat board one is applying to. Mine is ministry… recently applied + fresh grad. Hiring manager say the role itself is a perm post leh (tho subjected to 1 year confirmation in service- should be like a 1 year probation bah).
