Realised that there is a typo in my above post. I mean permanent, not full time. I received a letter of emplacement and I am wondering if it means that I am converted to permanent from contract and also I passed my probation. |

Mao | Emplacement in civil service means that the probation is successful and the contract is converted to full time?

I would encourage you to take-up the role at the SB, and consider going for a secondment in the future (to get a taste of ministry work but still enjoying higher pay since pay is paid by the stat board still). |

I'm taking this to mean that they are perm roles if I can meet the performance. |

Stat Board vs Ministry? Hi, sorry this is not directly related to salary matters, but - for those who have chosen a Stat Board over a Ministry before when offered both, may I know what was your thought process behind the decision? I was given a verbal offer from a stat board (strategic planning) as well as its parent ministry (policy) and am in the middle of deciding which one to accept. Putting aside personal interest and salary/benefits, what are some other things I may wish to consider? Is it easier to jump from stat boards to ministries or ministries to stat boards? How about pivoting to agencies in other industries? Any inputs or thoughts would be greatly appreciated as this is my first PS/CS role. Thanks! Background: Local uni grad, non-scholar, a few years work experience in a govt-affiliated organisation (not PS/CS). |

Unregistered | Perm or not shouldn't really matter unless you intend to spend your entire 40 year career in the same job.
