Yes, $500k combined. I am in one of the more fortunate support roles. Assets purely accumulated from hard work and a bit of luck flipping properties in 2004-8. But really nothing to shout about, and all the figures quoted here are true.

let me guess: stay in HDB + 2 small apartments rented out?

you may want to consider cashing out your investment properties. with determined govt measures to cool the market and more supply hitting the market next year, upside is limited but downside risks are getting high. espscially that prices are barely holding despite record low interest rates. my sense is that the heydays of big capital gains like in 2007 and after mid-2009 are over. seems most of the shrewd millionaires in this forum with 2-4m networth from property during the boomtimes are now hoarding cash for the next collapse.

don't belief in singapore story and property in singapore.
plan to be light and easy, should the island sink, i can move out immediately, hence the heavy cash component.

am i insane? am i okay? i see people chasing after properties these few years but me simply do the opposite - nothing. abit insane now. haha.

4.3M for single income is great for a 38
So how did you do it without property?

There are no average Joes in this forum? Everyone are so well-off.

Thanks to Anothernumber for sharing. But 700k income is nothing to laugh about. Assuming you spend 20% and invest/save the rest, you will reach your goal very soon. Even half of 700k is a lot (350k). Mind sharing which line are you in? Are you business owners?

I am in sales and the wife in management. We are not business owners. Working for a combine of 30 years.... So theortically not so impressive :)

You're modest. Most couples won't even reach half your earning power, ever.

Ok I will be the first.

Married with 2 children still in school. not graduate (poly + O lvls). 45-50yo.

5rm flat in good location: 600k - 650k fully paid. If we sell it, we got no place to stay.
CPF: 110k combined.
cash and shares: maybe 20-30k.

It is a struggle daily to see living expenses in Singapore going up every year. We worry about whether we can afford to send our children to university, so maybe they will have to go to poly first and work a few years. Basically we are living hand to mouth until the children start working. Even then, we worry about them getting married and will need our help to pay for their house. Quite shameful that my wife and I will not be able to help much unless we sell our HDB and move in with them or downgrade to a studio. We also think of moving to live in JB when we retire or get retrenched.

Frankly I am quite jealous of the riches of many people here. But I guess I only have myself to blame for not working smart/hard enough.
