Hi, i’m a grad to be in July, and I just finished an interview at a stat board last week and recently received a call to ask if i have any academic achievements or other achievements at uni - i didn’t mention any of those during my interview. Do they matter on whether i get the job or not?

Food for thought on CEP
Oral Reply in Parliament by DPM Teo to a question on merging grad and non-grad tracks:
At the entry level, officers are paid based on their assigned job responsibilities and demonstrated qualities, which include leadership and relevant experience. Where an officer does not have relevant work experience, in particular for those just entering the workforce, their performance in their educational institutions, which includes both academic and non-academic accomplishments will be taken into consideration as a proxy. Once an officer is on the job, it is performance and readiness for bigger job responsibilities that matter. A non-graduate who has demonstrated the same qualities as a graduate will be given the same development and advancement opportunities. s://.psd.gov.sg/press-room/parliamentary-replies/oral-reply-to-parliamentary-question-on-civil-service-graduate-and-non-graduate-career-tracks-1 |

just have to accept the fact that it takes much more for a private uni to move up the ladder compare to a local uni. |
Who knows ur CEP? HR, RO?

ironically, interesting fact i found out is HR will first look at the candidate last drawn pay, apply some formula and work out the offer. eg. the salary work out to be 6k, HR will see the profile of this candidate, if is from private uni, 6k will be pegged to Manager (due to lower starting pay in range) if is from local uni, 6k will be pegged to deputy manager (due to mid starting pay in range) what i want to say is no matter what, your salary will be very largely based on your last drawn for exp candidate while the eventual position offered will then be reverse engineer to the appropriate grade based on your profile |

Is your current RO the RO for your first year as well? First year is the most impt year as your RO will give an estimated of your CEP. Of course they say CEP can be reviewed and adjust but it's hard. Example if your RO evaluates you to be only mx11 potential, it needs serious justification to change your CEP to example mx10. Scholars get promote fast because usually their CEP is at mx 8 or 9. |
real CEP only done after a few years down the road. for first few years usually same as ur batch. As a RO who has been giving CEP grades, I can tell u that your performance in first few years are more critical than your class of honours.

don't sprout nonsense. CEP is can only be proposed by Senior Directors and approved by PSes. You, as a RO, probably can just indicate your opinion of the employee's CEP in the SAR (rightmost tab). But this is inconsequential.
