The civil service won't underpay you for the qualification through their scale, don't worry too much about it. that can be rigid but since you have a local qualification, it should pay in your favour but don't bang too much on your non-relevant experience and masters degree.

Thank you very much for the advice! Helps a lot.

All the best, keep us posted when you get your offer so that we can get more informed range.

I have a FCH from a local uni along with NS and a year of unrelated work experience...received an offer of nearly 5k starting on one of the special schemes...

definitely not, my friend EDB starting associate programme only 3.9k graduated from a top 10 uni in the world. non-scholar.

anyway, most non-uniformed specialisted scheme pay near to 5k for a FCH - Engineers, Statisticians, Economists, Foreign Affairs Officers, Intel Security Officers, Legal Officers.

A lot of those are not under MX scheme.

if you are not a scholar, being a graduate from Oxbridge do not mean anything

Agree.

I was highlighting to the reply-poster because the they asked if it was EDB, but I also realised the original-posted said they had a year of unrelated experience - so I guessed original-poster was a non-scholar since most scholar, even out for a gap year, would do something related (maybe in some rare cases do not).

I'm the original poster. Spent that year on a gap year prior to university, working as a engineer, but am no longer in an engineering-related role. Am a local university scholar though.
