all that work and still below 4k... not trying to shet on u but why even bother with side gigs??? why not just aim for career progression?

Bruh. People just started working <1 year. Who doesnt want career progression? Speaking of career progression, i worked (quite) hard for the past 10 mths and was offered a scholarship to do MSC or a PhD( if i want ) in my field with full sponsorship this august. My pay will increase 25-40% (yay) if i choose to pursue it and I probably will choose the msc route. You think i working for my parents' company? go in 1-2 years then become senior? ez life?

And all these side gigs makes my life more enjoyable, rather than staying home and watching or nua, i am enjoying with whatever stuff i am doing and also making side money to help with my family's bills. Both my parents take home only 2.7k after cpf. They are not that educated or successful as yours i assume. so thats why maybe side gigs to u is ********.

I may not be as smart as you to have a starting pay of 6-8k or even higher per month, or born in a silver spoon like urself, put in a little bit effort and ur per annum is 100k++ or even more. If thats the case, good for you.

Just someone working hard so i can reduce the burden in my fam ;)

To others who are working hard too, keep striving! ;D

i am quite an active trader at night:

forex: if bad week +100, good week +500
stocks: if bad week nothing ( i just bag hold since i buy good stocks ), good week around 500, average around 150-300

so assume all bad week, extra 100+150=250, i take home around 3.6

i run a small business on carousell, 1 month 100-250, assume bad week -100

so around 3700

i teach tuitions on weekends, one p4, $14 per hr, another one sec 3, $24 per hr. 2hrs a week, 4 times a month. so extra 304.

take home 4000

sometimes i nth do, i go grabwalk. Around 14+- per hr lol. around 2hrs a week if i free, assume i do twice a month, extra 56

so around 4056.

Can just focus to scale your main job and business

clearly you since you're focusing all your time doing side-gigs etc instead of upskilling yourself and trying to job hop to better opportunities.

anyway respect bro, i hardly have any time to do anything after work. busy learning new framework every week, grinding leetcode and revising company codebase to maximize my growth.

im also not rich nor smart, grew up poor actually, parents divorced, i went ITE then uni as well so not sure what are you on about. if you think i don't know what its like to work hard, you're insane lol

gotta work smart and hard, not just do rando side gigs for quick $$, think long term.

CS Graduate from NTU, average GPA, like 2.8 or something

Currently working at AI company called Motional

Y0: 6.2k monthly
Y1: 7.4k monthly ( promotion + yearly increment )
Y2: 7.6k monthly ( yearly increment )

Hoping to hit 10k by 30 years old. Currently I'm 24 years old so 6 more years to go. Maybe doable, who knows.

Sure,

Basically working on image processing algorithms, using machine learning. It's full remote since 2019 but I have stepped into the office maybe 5 times? and I can go back to office but I choose remote because the office is in the west and I live damn far.

2.8k yearly benefits, this covers things like gym membership, WFH equipment, etc. But of course you cannot use it to pay housing rent or buy food lol..

Same as other tech companies, come with medical, I'll be honest I never use this in my 3 years so I don't know what is it or how much it covers.

Working hours when I first joined was about 5-6 hours on average, ramping up and learning. After my 1st year, it was like 3-4 hours a day... then now I'm barely working 1-2 hours lol it's mostly meetings and ramping up juniors.

But yeah of course the hours will change depending on major releases , currently there's nothing much at least until December.
