don't compare la. maybe your job is less risky than mine. there are many factors to consider besides monthly base salary.

annual variable bonus
job stability
industry outlook
career advancement opportunities
knowledge enhancement, etc etc

your base pay may be lower but if the above factors favour you more, you will catch up and overtake me in due course.

career is over a span of 30 to 40 years. there will be ups and downs.

Have you applied? Did you get in?
If so, please share experiences...not sure if it still as bad as many current Station Managers have experienced.

Good to share more if there are any current Station Managers here. This is for SIA btw.

But still i would like to know what is the typical salary (total remuneration divided by 12) of a guy who is 30 years old (which is me), who is a local graduate and who is not in the finance industry, who doesnt own a business but works in a MNC...
What is considered average and what is considered good.

let's break it down. i would consider this average.

if you're 30yo means u have been working for about 5 years. assuming in a non finance, non civil service role,

1st year (2009): $2,800
2nd year: $2,950
3rd year: (assume promotion): $3,400
4th year: $3,550
5th year: $3,800

Assume AWS + 3 months bonus, total package = $60,800

does that sound right?

Station Managers are AOs, ie if you come back to Singapore your title will be Executive/AM. Country/Region Managers can be senior AOs or junior managers, back in Singapore you will be section manager or full manager.

generally each rotation is 2-3 years. you start off as an Asst Station Manager in a big station (more than 1 flight a day). you then go to a smaller station as Station Manager (1 or less flights a day). generally you will get 1 good posting (eg Europe, US, Aus) and the next one will be a hardship posting (eg India, Pakistan), then good, then bad..

most Station Managers last 2-3 rotations before either taking up Country Manager posting or coming back to Singapore.

if you are earning 2k/month, I can't believe you think getting a car, house and a kid is a good idea.
