What's a junior specialist and what specialty?

Still better than those lawyers stuck in small/mid size firm for life. With no chance of progressing further.

For such lawyers, why not just do wills and CTC?

Then once in a while go court for PIPD work?

Should be earning quite a bit with good volume of work

Uh. these days mediocre poly kia from non-IP O level schools can get into nus cs (which used to be a dumping ground) and then into FAANG and earn multiples over raffles and hci educated lawyers.

get over yourselves. nobody owes u a living or a high paying job just because you peaked during a levels.

Anyone has experience of moving from local mid tier to big 4/ international firm after completion of tc? Is it hard to have such jump since tc only 6m?

Unregistered 22-10-2023 07:44 PM

Will advocate and solicitor earn more than lawyer (nq)
Is there even a point for the 12 mths training contract?

Nus com sci suprisingly have like 50% raffles hc
And the top cs earners are usually them

So ya ur psle determines the future

Sad to see standards have fallen so much.

Some people like to live in the past. They are usually the fallen stars who peaked in the past and have now fizzled out. Guess you are one of them. The same type of people who will vote for the opposition and talk about the good old days of being true blue Singaporeans.

Lol y are you projecting your failures. I RI RJ kid all the way, family rich, now in international law firm, just bought another pvt property last year with my wife to rent out. Thankfully, we were smart enough not to use the dumf**k ABSD decoupling method that those legally untrained property agents were trying to upsell. If this is fallen star, then you must have never even obtained the critical mass for stellar formation.

bro you paid 20% absd?
i know 99-1, iras is clamping
but decoupling 50-50 is legit

anyway congrats, you are very rich to pay 20% absd
could easily use the money to get a free merc s class or bmw 7 series.

If they want you, they will progress your application within a week. Wait two weeks maximum, anything after that means that you are not being seriously considered (i.e. either gone case or you are being waitlisted until their preferred choices reject them).

This is not necessarily true. Often people are busy and recruitment matters tend to take a backseat when there are other more urgent matters to settle. Or sometimes internal approvals need to be obtained from someone who is travelling.

I would suggest dropping the partner(s) who interviewed you a polite email reaffirming your interest and asking them when you can expect to receive an update. If you receive no response or a vague, non-committal response, then you know that they are not really interested in you.

Can I check for NQ is typically about 7k
Each year increase 1k

Does that mean the typically lawyer at PQE 20 will get 27k per month
Law is quite lucrative due to the constant 1k increase

A certain SMU JD at 8 PQE is already an equity partner in one of the fattest US firms around. Believe he is definitely drawing more than 40k per month. The 1k increment per PQE only matters in your first few years. Pretty sad to be relying on that 1k increment for the rest of your life me thinks.

Lol 1k increase is for local firms. International firms increase 2-3k pm each year. 27k per month is achievable at PQE 6.

Don't fret. If Mr LinkedIn business class rainmaker, who has been asked to leave multiple previous firms, can make it, you also can.

Malaysia Boleh 1:3.5

Hearsay from learned friends that some firms outsource their work to Malaysia counsel

Is there some truth to this?

Working world isn’t school anymore where you get a nice set of rubrics and you just follow the hand me down notes it to the T. Hope you’re just a wide eyed bushy tail 1st yearer. Either ways, quite telling of the robots that is the sg education system.

Bump. Still correct? And why don't they show the salaries for the 2PQE and above. Surely it isn't that difficult to collate.

Unregistered 26-10-2023 03:21 PM

How many months bonus does the average big 4 assoc get? Is it of the front loaded or base salary? Are certain big 4 firms known to me more generous/stingy than others?

3PQE feeling incredibly burnt out at my small firm. It has about 10-15 lawyers. Pay is below market rate in the 6.5-7.5 range. I have spent more than 1 year here, but have felt increasingly manipulated and milked to do all sorts of work while my juniors have it easy.

Should I serve notice before finding a job? Notice is 2 months and it’s increasingly unbearable as I’m falling out with my team whose been starting to find trouble at every opportunity
