I went for an interview for a MOM position in April, till now HR's reply is that they are still processing. Perhaps they just have many applications to process.

Either the other applicants are insanely qualified or HR is messing around? LTA isn't even a super competitive stat board right...? Been told last time that good grades at least gets you an interview, but I am totally not seeing this happen. Really quite dejected. I don't know what else I could have done.

Is the position an entry level position? Or they require relevant experiences? If so, your grades is just a small part.

The listing said it's a senior manager/manager position. The requirements say that relevant working experience would be advantageous. So if they are gonna thow out fresh grad applicants, might as well just state that X years of working experience required right...

Sorry to hear that this has happened to you. I think there's a chance that the job listing has already been posted or "refreshed" a couple of times. "Refreshed" could mean (a) no suitable candidates yet or (b) pending internal clearance for someone which they have already verbally offered or offered via email. I know for sure that this is something common. Don't feel lousy about it and as long as you have the experience & qualifications, plenty of other opportunities for you.

Thanks for the kind words. Thought it's hard to not feel lousy when close to 2 months of job search is so unfruitful... Is it really so hard to get a public service job now?

I guess you need to be patient when it comes to PS. Are you a fresh grad? If you are, the chances are quite slim unless you have superb internship experience(s). Otherwise, the hiring timeline for PS takes a long time - can spread over 4 months (or more). My friend recently got offered a contract job under MOE after 5 months from submitting the application on C@G. So it really depends, and I would think that the process would be (slightly) faster if you knew someone in that organisation so they could help do a referral to HR. Don't give up!

So you intend to apply senior manager/manager role as fresh grad?

Education is just a requirement (unless you graduate from famous uni or you scholar), revelant experience is more important. So imagine this, example 10 applicants apply for this role, all are degree holders, you hold no advantage. Perhaps 3 have relevant manager experience, another 3 said pmp certified. Another 3 holds senior postion before and another ia internal referral. You get what i mean.

Important, dun give up.

Im waiting for the approval. Just want to ask, will they give an offer within my expected or there is a chance they offer higher than my expected in the event the number I provided is lower.

Anyone have any insights on this?

Applied 18th March.

Interview 7th April.

Verbal offer of salary, AL, medical benefits was made on the 3rd of May.

HR said Senior Manager needs to approve before Vital takes over the signing process.

Called them up last Friday and they said that the bosses yet to approve the contract

Is there a chance that they may retract the offer?

Thanks for the advice. Is it unreasonable for fresh grads to apply for manager position? Does anyone have a source for job title hierarchies? Sometimes the titles are used differently so I mostly just gauge from the stated requirements.
