Kinda disagree for this. The self-discounted rates on booking sites are even lower than the MESRC subsidised ones.

The MESRC ones only seem cheaper compared to the original travel/hotel rates.

Apparently I'm not the only one. Quite a number also stagnant at geo 3 after so many years and PB is ok.

8 years including or excluding contract teaching and NIE?

Do scholars with 4 or 6 year bonds still get the CONNECT plan according to the same schedule as non-scholars?

Is connect plan taxable if let’s say you don’t get payout this year?

You are only taxed on what you are paid. So if it is a non-payout year, you are not taxed on the CONNECT deposit. Or, if you fail to meet the required performance grade, you are not taxed because you do not receive the payout.

Are they not supposed to?

Hit ceiling doesn't mean auto promote. It's possible to be stuck at the ceiling for several years, but it happens more often to mid-career switchers (as they start higher along the same scale than fresh grads).

Promotion is based on the school's appraisal of your ability to perform at higher levels, not just by how much you do.

In other words, you need to take on portfolios that are above your paygrade, which has visible impacts at the school level. For example, initiating and leading a project that affects an entire cohort, or the entire school.
Or like what others mentioned, internal KP appointments.

Doing a lot of work within your paygrade, merely makes you a hardworking worker. Which might explain your good performance bonus.

A GEO3 can be a member of multiple committees, coordinator for many levels and streams, be teacher in charge of CCA. But these are considered routine work, and usually the officer is just executing other people's ideas, helping to achieve other people's KPI.

Ask your RO if you can be reassigned to other roles that allow you showcase your ability to perform above your paygrade.

Agreed! There's fixed air time for each officer during ranking discussions. You can see how being IC of 1 school-wide initative can be perceived as more impactful than being a member of 10 small initiatives. In fact the former might be less work.

A more interesting question I have will be...if CONNECT plan already paid out, but break bond? Is the scholar liable to pay back that amount too?
