Manager here, can confirm every grade is discussed and assessed at performance review.

We really do book meeting room and spend 4 hours discussing each of you.

4 hours per staff is kinda long. normally for average performer and non-promoting-year staffs we just handwave them off quickly bc it'd be too time consuming otherwise.

How many people working on weekends nowadays?

Totally can't meet the deadline but some are completely offline during the weekend lmao

It's like they don't care about their performance reviews anymore

Who cares about meeting deadlines in 2024
only those malaysians that earn 3.5x + CPF are willing to do so
once they get PR, they will give middle finger to big 4 lah

however i view this as an opportunity
Its important secretly work when your peers are offline so that you stand out more and promote
its also important to bootlick your managers and feed them gossip about others

Partner here, you better get your lazy manager body down to client place and do fieldwork. we are short on staff.
I will not hesitate to book meeting room and spend 4 hours discussing about each of you

Anyone here challenge your audit partners to take CA exam in June 2024? Haha

Uh in the first place, don't even need to talk about being very smart.

If you even have a degree from a big 3 local U (NUS, SMU or NTU) and still end up working in audit, that's really on you for wasting your degree.

Audit is not a role for a "high flyer", seriously. The private uni and malaysian degree holders that they accept by the truckloads, are perfectly capable of doing this job.

You ever hear of people go Oxbridge or Ivy League then come back work in audit? Very very rare, because most bright ambitious grads like them know that their degrees would be totally wasted and overqualified for B4 audit.

Even in the US, how many grads who studied in Ivies, Stanford, MIT, etc. become CPAs? All straightaway target IB, PE and consulting. It's only those low tier state college grads that choose the CPA path.
