Cos you didn't need the job. And now it's an employees market again following tightening of foreign labour including those deemed misguidedly as "talents". Remember to vote against lax immigration policy so we get to swivel in the chairs again. The talents can go elsewhere since they are so talented.

before careful.

who's gonna build your hdb flats?

we can stop talent from entering, but we can't stop factories from leaving.

singapore will become a fishing village again without foreign talent. be grateful.

tounight the

don't mistake labourers and production line workers as "talents".

what would be good is to limit the area of work where these foreigners can be employed to work in.

Every time we talk about foreign white collar professionals the pm the sm will threaten with "who's gonna build your houses" rhetoric. Either there's something wrong with their listening skills or they are totally ignoring the question.

The facts on the ground:

- there are enclaves. The foreigners - be they Filipinos or Indians or whites - they like to hire their own kind. I even heard a butcher from UK was hired by his buddy into a good 6-figures a year job in a big bank here. I also witness my department hiring expensive Indian programmers with at most 2-3 years experience for 8k a month paid to an Indian HR outsourcing firm.

- these are good jobs taken away from Singapore's sons and daughters. These are jobs that we can do and do well.

- we have no qualms getting fw for construction and cleaning jobs but we thoroughly mind if the government and its leadership turn a blind eye whenever such issues are raised.

If I don't hear a convincing plan from them to address these issues (stop the who's gonna build your flats nonsense), and they don't have much time left, I'll know who to vote against.

I heard this... I heard that.... no facts to back up your claims.

Singaporeans need to shape up or remain unemployed. These FT are here because there are not enough Singaporeans that are competitive in the globalised economy. The Government doesn't owe you a good job because of your citizenship. They need productive people to keep the economy growing. Not a mass of whiners and complainers wanting free handouts.

If you are the minority, you can threaten to vote all you want. I think its a small group of whiners who are posting across all the forums. We will find out what Singaporeans really want in 3 weeks.

the government is not publishing useful data! that's why we can only "hear this" and "hear that".

- give us data on how many singapore CITIZENS are employed at the 2 IRs.

- stop lumping PRs and CITIZENS in all wage and employment data.

- median income has risen slowly over the past decade, and even so, this is data that lumps PRs and CITIZENS. show us data for the past decade on CITIZENs salaries and employment.

- give us data on the ratio of number of CITIZENS to foreigners in MNCs.

- give us data on the income of CITIZENS to foreigners in MNCs.

be more transparent and we can then tell them if they have indeed "passed their examinations". btw, they are paid the highest salaries in the world - merely passing the exams is not good enough. i want them to pass with flying colours and highest honours, which they obviously have failed to, despite having the "best talent".

No choice. So many foreigners. Just take it up first lor. Need to pay handphone bills, internet bills, utility bills, etc. Better than working in MacDonald's.

When a better opportunity comes, just jump ship!

Why can my sim seniors get at least $2000 (some even get $3000) and I am still seen as an a'level student when I am obviously only waiting for my cert now? Do you have any advice? are they really offering a very low pay? Underpaying :(

Very simple actually. They will try to squeeze you if they can.

And you know what? They CAN!

With so many foreigners to choose from these days, they can afford to squeeze you dry and not worried that no one will fill the position.

Try to emigrate if you can. I do not see a future in Singapore for the long term.

Anywhere, the election is coming. Do the right thing. Secure your future.

C'mon! We are talking about PMETs here.

Investors who operate here already know they cannot get workers as cheap as those from China or India. Even if our wages are depressed so low, it will NEVER match those from China or India.

It's not a matter of whether they will shift out, it's only a matter of WHEN.
