Engineer

ST ELECTRONICS LTD

ENGINEER (NO EXP) - $3200

They will try to put you under contract scheme though, which means for the next 1 to 2 years there will be NO PAY INCREMENT.

If you perform well for the next 1 to 2 years of your contract, your contract will be EXTENDED. Nope, they will not want to make you a permanent staff there 'cos they expect you to demand for pay increments.

Banking Sector Payout

Started work as a fresh overseas grad in 2004 in one of the local banks. Starting pay was $2,350 in database marketing department. Been through couple of banks. Current pay now is $5,800 with average bonus of about 4 months. Pay is nothing fantastic compared to the many here who I read have annual pay of >$100k. I'm staisfied with what I'm getting though. Hope this is helpful for those thinking of joining the banking sector.

In short, we access the database of the bank to analyse and retrieve data which can assist the marketing department to make informed marketing decisions. If you want to know more, you can search for job sites using words like database marketing or data/customer analytics.

ST Electronics pay sucks. I've had a couple of ex-colleagues from there. Even the CEO is making a measly 600k pa. But then with this kind of pay structure, it makes sense to be a shareholder rather than an employee. :)

NOT only from electronic,
in fact the pay structure of whole of ST(aero, elec, marine, kinetic) all sux, annual increment 2-5%, even promotion also 4-6% = fug up

Note that there is no such thing as promotion will give u +$500 to +$1000 increment in ST

wow, that is bad. I got a promotional increment of more than $3000 last year from my company (US MNC). Really incredible, I think. But they are trying to retain me as far as I know because some competitors were knocking on my door then.

your promotional increment is even more than my starting pay of $2900 in year 2007, congrats for you.

Are you working in Engineering sector or Financial sector ?

Unregistered 30-03-2011 02:00 PM

Started at $2k doing bank operations in a foreign bank 6 years ago.

Now $5k doing corporate credit for another foreign bank (4th bank i've worked in since starting 6 years ago).

Not superhuman salary but pretty ok for now i guess.

The pay increment is quite good despite you are only poly grad.
2700-1500 = 1200 in 6 years, mean each year annual increment is $200.

I am from local(GLC), starting 2900, after 3 years + 1 promotion = total increment less than $500, i some more is local degree holder......

Unregistered 05-04-2011 07:45 PM

$1.6k as an executive in a local bank in 2007

Now $2.8k as an analyst in the same bank.

Could probably get at least 4k basic if I move banks.

I'm in sales though...so basic doesn't really count for much

I think this is pretty ok pay. Have you compared yourself with those around you? Are you in a bank ?

Unregistered 06-04-2011 12:58 PM

3.5 years exp in GLC engineer

basic slightly less than $3400
annual is mid-50k.

I think compare to those work 3.5 years in the civil service(same age same years of exp), their basic is close to $4500, with better annual increment and better promotional increment. I lose out to them!!

Unregistered 07-04-2011 09:48 AM

foreign bank IT starting this july
55k per annum

That's a pretty good pay! How about your peers? Are they all getting around the same pay? What's your "guesstimate" of the average pay among all your peers?

That means your variable bonus is 5 months (excluding 1mth AWS). Thats very good bonus i must say.

I'm in the finance industry, started off in a global bank in mid 2007 but moved to another finance institution (not a bank) 1 year ago. Currently at $4400/mth basic. No AWS and VB is only around 2 months.
