Think Twice before joining Cybersecurity
Been doing solutions, projects and working with the product and infra teams. Work together with project and maintenance team almost 10 years and finally moving on.
I would advise you all to think twice or thrice before joining Cybersecurity in ST Engineering.
The key problem they have is that there are too many talents and scholars they have brought in, and all of them fight for promotion every year. So no matter how hard you work, these entitled individuals will attempt to undermine you, make you look weak, steal your credit, and in the end, they will earn all the glory in front of the bosses with your idea.
You will sit there and LL suck thumb as they rob you of your hard work and efforts.
If you enjoy elevating your boss to win favour and promotion this is a place to come join in the fun and continue to boot-lick and polish your boss for promotions. Especially in some of the business units, many bosses enjoy the attention of you giving them praise and everything can work one and do sui sui, ji tao the heavens and the sky will come to you also one.
Also hor if you don't mind scrambling last-minute changes for solutions, products and projects or kena overloaded in projects until you drown, come join. You won't regret it. But you better hope and pray if the project sink, you are not the pm being blamed.
The blame culture here is sibei sibei strong one. Any project anyhow promise can do, in the end, no resource, product outdated with many bugs, engineers not aware about setup and requirements.
If you have any bright ideas to bring in to change the culture and the place, don't bother. They enjoy the chaos and thrive in this madness of dog eat dog within itself.
It is a lost cause, they don't see it yet, but at some point the middle management will sabotage the ship to sink because they are too busy wanting glory for themselves. While those who work hard sincerely and earnestly will jitao die one, because cum appraisal, bosses only elevate those who praise and support their vision even if project on fire.
