To be honest, public sector are getting better at sieving out only the best. They are no longer just looking at your bachelor's degree (2nd upper and above); they are also looking at your PSLE, "O" and "A" levels.

If you're good, you'll be good since young. Of course there are late bloomers, but they cannot help is as certain courses in certain local unis are reputed to be quite easy to get 2nd upper and above.
