For the average teacher, your statement makes sense.
But for people with enough status, like
PSC scholars, or otherwise high enough CEP to potentially climb to senior/top management positions... or even potentially smell the Admin Service, it is possible to eventually achieve a salary that somewhat justifies the level of responsibility.
If you have the chance to climb up high, the toughest part is surviving and climbing through the mid-management years. Your life as a Vice-principal, AD or DD will probably be the most miserable parts of your career.
