5.5k is decent, 6k is average, 6.5k+ onward is really good. There's plenty of low-tier tech companies paying outright 6k already for fresh-grads with just 1 simple technical interview... I'm not even talking about FCH CS grads btw, your typical SIT partnership degree grad with 2.5+ GPA can get these jobs already.
TS go with whatever job you want, it's entirely up to you but don't accept a lower pay just because "opportunities". Every company has opportunities to learn and grow...
The fact of the matter is that when you start off at a low base, there's not much growth. Compare someone getting 5.5k with a 3% pay increment and someone at 4.8k getting 3% increment.
5500 -> 5665 = $165 bump
4800 -> 4944 = $144 bump
Assuming typical 1 year pay increment period,
$165 x 12 = $1980
$144 x 12 = $1728
A $252 difference... Now add in the initial base pay difference,
$700 a month, 1 year = $8400 difference.
Also like it or not, in Singapore, a lot of companies will ask for your last drawn salary and peg you to that last drawn pay. You start at a low trash base pay, you MAY get hardstuck at that trash pay.

agreed largely with you however you are speaking about technical roles in tech only. just a word of caution, doesnt apply to most other sectors, say engineering for example.
just curious, what company offers 6k base with just 1 technical interview lol most places ive seen is 5.5 or above 5.5 with multiple rounds, never 6k with just 1 round lolol
