Shouldnt it already be known that working hard isnt the way to get promotions? You have to know how to wayang and bootlick bosses. Get into their good books. Learn how to present stuff. Claim credit for other people work by saying you guided them/mentored them.

Everyone i know who has gotten promoted, did so by not sloughing through long hours of work
They worked smart and presented well. Very personable and knows how to behave in front of different groups of audience.
